Un ballon incendiaire aurait été lancé de Gaza vers le sud d’Israël
 
Un feu aurait été apparemment causé lundi par un dispositif incendiaire accroché à un ballon lancé depuis la bande de Gaza vers le sud d’Israël, ont dit les pompiers. Il s’agirait de la toute première violation d’un cessez-le-feu conclu entre l’État juif et le groupe terroriste du Hamas suite à un conflit de onze jours, au début du mois.
 
Cet incident est survenu alors que les militaire égyptiens ont rencontré des responsables israéliens et du Hamas à Jérusalem et à Gaza, respectivement, pour tenter de négocier une trêve à long-terme entre les deux parties.
 
Selon les services de secours et incendie, le feu a touché un champ de la région de la Shaar HaNegev, dans le sud d’Israël.

Egypt takes diplomatic spotlight amid Gaza reconstruction push

Between the lines: The reconstruction of Gaza gives Egypt both diplomatic and economic opportunities.
 
Egypt wants Egyptian companies to be in charge of the reconstruction process, Israeli officials say, and has already proposed building plans worth $500 million, with most of the funding coming from Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
That would allow Egyptian companies to benefit and the Egyptian government to monitor the reconstruction and make sure no building materials go to Hamas.
What’s next: Israeli officials say Egypt is also considering closing down its current border crossing with Gaza and opening a new one in Rafah with better monitoring systems to prevent the entry of dual-use goods that can have a military benefit for Hamas.

Le gouvernement américain, qui a reçu jeudi le ministre israélien de la Défense Benny Gantz, a promis de soutenir Israël quel que soit son futur premier ministre, au moment où une coalition s'est formée pour évincer Benjamin Netanyahu du pouvoir.

«Rien ne changera même si le gouvernement change», a-t-il insisté, confirmant notamment l'intention de Washington de contribuer au renflouement du bouclier antiprojectiles de l'État hébreu, dont les missiles ont été fortement utilisés lors des onze jours de conflit avec le mouvement islamiste palestinien Hamas dans la bande de Gaza en mai. En recevant Benny Gantz au Pentagone, le ministre américain de la Défense Lloyd Austin a rappelé que le président Joe Biden avait «exprimé son plein soutien au renflouement du 'Dôme de Fer' d'Israël», «qui a sauvé tant de vies innocentes lors du récent conflit».

UNRWA: Tunnel found under Gaza school hit by Israel in last month’s conflict
 
The United Nations’ Palestinian refugee agency has condemned the construction of a tunnel under a school it operates in the central Gaza Strip, which was apparently targeted by the Israel Defense Forces during last month’s 11-day battle between Israel and the Hamas terror group.

In its statement, UNRWA denounced the construction of the tunnel, but did not identify the group responsible for it.
 
“UNRWA condemns the existence and potential use by Palestinian armed groups of such tunnels underneath its schools in the strongest possible terms. It is unacceptable that students and staff be placed at risk in such a way,” the agency said.

The UNRWA announcement came days after the head of the agency in Gaza, Matthias Schmale, was recalled from his post amid an uproar in the coastal enclave over an interview he gave to Israeli TV during which he said that IDF strikes during the war appeared to be “precise” and “sophisticated.”
 
A spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency told Channel 12 that Schmale had been called back to Jerusalem for consultations and had decided to take an extended leave of absence.
 
De Bold was also deemed persona non grata by Hamas, according to Palestinian media, which said the terror group was demanding that both he and Schmale be fired.
