METALLICA: Swedish Concert Ticket Fraud Suspected - Oct. 21, 2008
A scandal has erupted in Sweden over an alleged ticket fraud in connection with METALLICA's upcoming March 7-8, 2009 concerts at Globen in Stockholm. According to reports in the Swedish media, it is suspected that a significant percentage of the 30,000 tickets never even reached the general public before they were made available on the black market at prices that were substantially higher than their face value.
Expressen.se reports that Ticnet, Sweden's largest live-event ticket agency, has received word that a Swedish ATG sales representative distributed as many as 200 tickets to one of the companies specializing in selling second-hand tickets — this despite the fact that there was a limit of six tickets per transaction.
Tickets to METALLICA's two shows in Stockholm were sold out within 30 minutes after they went on sale yesterday morning (Monday, October 20). Before the day was over, many of the tickets — whose face value was between between 450 and 750 kronor (between $60 and $100)— were being resold on the black market for up to 4,000 kronor apiece (approximately $532).

METALLICA: Helsinki Concert Tickets Sell Out - And Resurface On Auction Sites - Oct. 21, 2008
Helsingin Sanomat reports that all tickets for two METALLICA concerts to be held in the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland next June were sold within 40 minutes after they went on sale Monday morning (October 20).
The last time METALLICA played in Helsinki it was at the Olympic Stadium in July 2007, with a capacity of 44,000.
Now there were just 26,000 tickets available for the two June dates, and supply and demand were naturally rather out of balance. Attempts were made to prevent black market gouging by limiting purchases to two tickets per person.
In actual fact, it was possible with some luck and perseverance to buy tickets nearly all day, as returns trickled back into the system.
