Well, I have quite a lot of trouble understanding it in some movies since I'm used to the British accent. But there are as many american accents as there are British accents (ever heard a Mancunian or a Liverpudlian? Sounds like they don't speak English at all. I won't even mention the Scottish or Irish accent, of course )

 
My brother is also used to the british accent, when we're watching a british movie, i'm sometimes lost But when it comes to watching us movies, i have to explain him what's going on, for exemple, Pirates of the Caribeans, i was sometimes strugglin so as to understand some conversations; Dark Blue : their redneck accent had no secrets for me

And you're right, there's more than a gap (mind the gap, copyright london tube corporation) between Leed's accent, Cocknee or London Queen's English

In five years there, I can't say I've heard it often. I can't even remember how I found out.
Anyway is there really a Leeds/Loiner accent? If there is, it can't be much different from the Yorkshire accent.

Scottish accent is brilliant Ok, irish one, no way to understand a fucking even word, but it's nice too  

It is basically the Yorkshire accent with a touch of something close to any suburban accent...

A great way to be introduced to the scottish accent is to read stuff from Irvine Welsh. I remember a short story involving Hollywood stars fantasizing about Scottish boys and speaking with an awful scottish brawl, we had to read it aloud to decypher it

Seriously, it's not that difficult once you understand that it's not the words but the meaning you translate.
In your example:
"something that smoothes your day": qqch qui facilite la vie / rend la vie plus douce
"this food is very healthy for you": c'est un aliment bon pour votre santé.

American english all the way !

Mon English's feeling m'a dit d'utiliser une fois does, et pas l'autre fois.
Pourtant, je ne vois pas la différence

1. l'auxiliaire est To Be (Is à la 3ème personne).
La forme interrogative requiert une inversion :
     Where is Semco based?
 
2. là, il s'agit du Preterit (passé). La question est donc :
     When did the changes begin?
(Notes qu'ici l'auxiliaire indique le temps, et le verbe est à l'infinitif)
