je voudrais que les scripts croient que je suis sur un kernel différent

est ce que sur un quadcore ça a un intéret d'utiliser un noyau smp sur ubuntu ou bien le kernel generic le fait déjà ?

Je rebondis la dessus, car j'ai rencontrer le meme probleme avec le noyau 2.6.26 bien que l'utilisateur ai un 2.4.xx
Un changement dans les options du noyau est apparu sur le 2.6.26 au niveau de l'horloge;
il faut activer ==> device drivers ==> RTC ==> CONFIG_RTC_DRV_CMOS=y sinon, pas de /dev/rtc (qui est un lien symbolique vers /dev/rtc0) et la commande hwclock ne fonctionne pas.

J'étais bloqué depuis un ptit moment avec un 2.6.25 parce que j'arrivais pas à résoudre un petit problème avec ma carte dvb. Voila le problème étant résolu :

Sinon oui, le 2.4 est encore maintenu (correction de bugs/sécurités, mais pas de nouvelles fonctionnalités)
Le dernier est le 2.4.36.6 de juin 2008
