This is old and unmaintained. We'll replace it with ddd, a much better
frontend for the gdb debugger.

Thanks to Erik_FL on LQ for pointing out that a boot image for UEFI did not
need to have a GPT partition table. Seems it works either way, but since
GPT is not required that allows us to add the support for UEFI boot to the
regular USB installer image. Unfortunately, this image still does not
work any better (or differently) as an El-Torito boot image for EFI on
an ISO. In tests here, elilo loads but runs into an error while loading
the initrd. I've experimented with different -boot-load-size options
(including way too large to be sure the whole image is mapped) but so
far it has not worked. If anyone figures out the trick to making this work,
let me know. It would be nice to have the DVD bootable under UEFI, and it
wouldn't take any extra space since the usbboot.img file will be on the
disc anyway.

EFI/BOOT/*: Added.
I am hearing that more recent versions of UEFI *do* support the ISO9660
filesystem, and that just putting this directory on the ISO image will
make the disc bootable. I do not have a real UEFI machine, but I made an
ISO (instructions in isolinux/README.TXT) and it boots here on VirtualBox.

More updates, and several rebuilds due to bumped library versions in
the boost, icu4c, ilmbase, imagemagick, libzip, and net-snmp packages.
Thanks to Heinz Wiesinger for several of these library bumps, and to
Robby Workman for the initial work on lots of the updates in this batch.
The big news here is the removal of MySQL in favor of MariaDB. This
shouldn't really be a surprise on any level. The poll on LQ showed a large
majority of our users were in favor of the change. It's my belief that
the MariaDB Foundation will do a better job with the code, be more
responsive to security concerns, and be more willing to work with the
open source community. And while I don't think there is currently any
issue with MySQL's licensing of the community edition for commercial uses,
several threads on LQ showed that there is confusion about this, whereas
with MariaDB the freedom to use the software is quite clear. Thanks are
due to Heinz Wiesinger for his work on transitioning the build script,
testing, and getting us all behind this move. He's been working with
MariaDB (and their developers) for several years now. Vincent Batts also
had a hand in the early discussions here -- he met Daniel Bartholomew of
MariaDB on a train last year and got a copy of the source to play with to
pass the time on the journey (ah, the miracle of thumbdrives :), and was
impressed with not only MariaDB itself, but also with the welcome that
Slackware was getting. We expect they'll be responsive to any concerns
we have. In the vast majority of situations, MariaDB is entirely
compatible with existing MySQL databases and will drop right in with no

freeze du pc : la souris ne bouge plus, aucune touche du clavier ne fait quoi que ce soit. Off / On

~/.xsession-errors : le fichier est écrasé à chaque reboot n'est-ce pas ? Donc il faudrait ne pas démarrer X pour aller le lire au reboot...

/var/log/messages : "syslogd 1.5.0: restart" permet de repérer chaque boot, donc je regarde juste avant et je vois les infos du boot (il a mis 3 min avant de planter) mais pas d'erreur

/var/log/Xorg.0.log : écrasé à chaque fois aussi, non ?

bonjour les gens

j'ai installé du linux pour moi perso en 97 ou 98 avec une slackware, j'aimais bien

là je veux m'y remettre, j'ai réussi une config sur mon PC portable toshiba (config "rakushun" ), à base de slackware 13.37, sans aucun problème. j'ai le son, la vidéo (nvidia dédiée), vu que je m'en sers essentiellement pour lancer des vidéos sur un vidéoproj ... bref
je voudrais installer une slack 14 (puisqu'elle est sortie depuis) sur mon PC fixe en celeron 1300 (config "nadia" ), et problème :

la première fois, j'ai fait un dd if="usbboot.img" of=/dev/hda1 pour booter le PC sur son disque dur sans trop d'effort. ça a marché, j'ai installé depuis mon PC "zeruel" en FTP.
j'ai eu une erreur au reboot, jme suis dit pas grave, je grave le DVD bootable.
je boot sur le DVD, no problem. je refais l'install (j'aime tellement choisir tous les paquets un à un :love: !), je format les 2 partoches (une de 25 /, une de 35 /home), et là, meme problème [:ideenoire]

en gros, au boot, il me dit "data check from BIOS successful" et une seconde après, il reboot.

j'ai vu plusieurs méthodes qui avaient plustot trait à un écran noir suite à ce message, mais moi c pas un écran noir, c'est un reboot franc : beep, affichage de la RAM et réaffichage du menu lilo

le pire étant que le boot sur le DVD se passe très bien :fou: !
de là, je chroot sur mon install, et je vi lilo.conf, j'ai essayé de changer plusieurs paramètres dans le lilo.conf, et j'ai beau lancé /sbin/lilo, ça fait rien ! j'ai modifié le label, le délai, rien à faire, il me propose toujours 2:00 et linux ...

j'aimerais bien savoir 2 trucs :
-comment faire pour voir à quoi ressemble le lilo.conf utilisé par le DVD au boot ?
-pourquoi mes changements ne sont pas sauvegardés par lilo ... ?

si ya des gens qui ont quelques minutes à me consacrer, merci !

j'ai peur que mon PC "nadia" soit un poil trop vieux pour certaines options de lilo, et/ou qu'il apprécie pas que j'ai un HDD de 60 Go et une partoche / qui fait plus du tiers de la capacité totale... mais j'ai beau changer les options (lba32, nodevcache, append = nomodeset), comme j'ai l'impression que le fichier que j'édite n'est pas pris en compte, je sais pas si ce que je fais se rapproche d'une solution ou pas

edit : putain, j'ai oublié de su avant de lancer "lilo" je crois :sweat:

à priori, RAF, moi je préfère largement un boot en mode texte only. mais ubuntu 9 ou le live CD linux de l'UBCD 5 marchent parfaitement sur ce système :spamafote:
(bon, à priori c que quand je boote sur le DVD d'install, il a pas les modules qui vont bien pour trouver la geforce qu'il y a sur le PC)

edit 3 : bon, je commence à en avoir un peu marre de booter une fois le HDD pour voir qu'il n'a rien fait, une fois sur le DVD, faire la sélection du clavier FR, faire mkdir /mnt/sda1, mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1, mount -B /proc /mnt/sda1/proc (+sys + dev pareil) , chroot /mnt/sda1, éditer lilo.conf, mettre à jour avec /sbin/lilo, rebooter et constater que rien ne change, y compris le label quand je l'édite ... le pire c'est qu'il me dit "added linuxTEST *" quand je lance /sbin/lilo, et qu'au reboot, il me laisse choisir "Linux" et j'ai "LinuxTEST" nulle part :heink:

comme quoi, déjà quand j'avais fait ma première install de linux, tout ce que j'avais eu c'est 0111111 avec lilo, après quoi j'avais utilisé loadlin en fichier .bat depuis un windows 98 que j'avais sur mon PC à l'époque :lol: ... bon, là le PC je voudrais le passer entièrement sous linux ... pourquoi ça marche pas :cry: !

a/shadow-4.1.4.3-x86_64-8.txz: Rebuilt.
Patched pw_encrypt() to fix "crypt: Invalid argument" and immediate login
failure when a non-existent user tries to log in. This was caused by a
change in the behavior of glibc's crypt() function. When a user that does
not exist tries to log in, the code in shadow calls crypt() with an invalid
salt. The old version of crypt() used the provided bad salt (always "!" )
to produce a DES hash with "!!" at the beginning, while the new one just
returns NULL which isn't well-handled by the shadow code. To fix this
shadow bug, if the salt is invalid, we'll call crypt() using a good SHA512
salt, prepend "!!" to the hash that we get back, and have pw_encrypt()
return this as the result. The effect is identical to the previous
behavior -- unless the exact same malformed hash happens to be the hash in
/etc/shadow (it won't be), the login will fail. While I see no way that
these 6 lines of code could be less secure than the original code, I
welcome additional review. Also, if anyone spots anything else that was
adversely affected by the change to crypt()'s behavior, please let me know.

Bonsoir

Bonne nouvelle : pas de freeze depuis quelques jours.
Mauvaise nouvelle : j'ai des problèmes pour le mount de mon disque externe usb (alors qu'une clé usb marche nickel). La petite applet KDE me le détecte comme un disque interne (je veux dire que je ne le vois pas si elle est configurée pour les périphériques débranchables uniquement) et me demande le mot de passe root.
Pour le mot de passe, j'ai modifié /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.udisks.policy où j'ai mis allow_any et allow_active à yes dans les sections filesystem-mount, filesystem-mount-system-internal, filesystem-unmount-others. D'ailleurs j'aurais bien voulu une explication simple.
Pour le interne/externe ??? C'est un peu gênant niveau sécurité je trouve.
Une idée ?

Pour blueman, je viens de voir que j'avais un /etc/xdg/autostart/blueman.desktop qui est renommé chez moi avec une extension bidon.
Peut-être une piste si ton blueman démarre tout seul.

je vais essayer de le dire autrement : quand je branche une clé usb, la petite applet KDE "Notification de nouveau périphérique" ouvre une petite boite dans laquelle je peux cliquer pour ouvrir le dossier de la clé (et faire le mount au passage).
Quand je branche mon dd externe (usb aussi), il ne se passe rien. Enfin se passait. J'ai cherché dans les options de cette petite applet, et j'ai vu qu'elle n'affichait que les périphériques débranchables. Je lui ai demandé de tout afficher et là j'ai vu mon dd. Si je clique dessus pour ouvrir le dossier, le mot de passe root est demandé..
j'arrête là pour ce soir, je suis fatigué et mal installé !
Est-ce que le début est plus clair ?

Cela dit, un disque usb qui n'est pas reconnu comme amovible, on peut suspecter un bug, déjà.
Donc, mauvais signe pour la suite.

Après, mes propres disques ont une entrée dans le fstab, "comme il y a 10 ans" diront les mauvaises langues.
