une fois emerge faut taper un grub-install --target=i386-pc --recheck /dev/machinchose
Faut penser a resize ton /boot pour faire une partoche de 8/10mo avant le /boot pour qu'il installe son grub.img et copier la config ... Ton fstab doit être renseigné avec les uuid (sinon il t'envoie balader, les flag/label c'est pas fiable pour lui) et je doit en oublier des prérequis :/

copie + chrootage de ma distro en /home pour tests, installation de l'overlay toolchain et unmask de gcc 4.7 : premier essai d'un emerge -Uav @world = fail.

le @ sert a indiquer un package set, world c'est un package set particulier, puisque c'est l'alias de tout tes packages (set ou non) installés sur ta gentoo, la bonne pratique est donc de mettre le "@"world, même si ça marcherait sans.

Je test une approche moins violente là, a savoir compiler juste la toolchain (gcc 4.7 une première fois via 4.6.3 puis recompiler la 4.7 avec elle même et finir par la suite de la toolchain), puis zlib, et le kernel. Je transfert le kernel compilé hors du chroot pour booter dessus, pour le moment ça semble tourner

Il est conseillé de faire un emerge -eav @system lors d'une maj de GCC, puis @world par la suite.

Dans une sandbox tu t'en fou un peu du bon usage sur quoi emerge en premier, c'est un peu fait pour ça en fait, et si tu veux l'usage vraiment "idéal" pour la migration gcc : t'emerge ta toolchain + grub + nouveau kernel en sandbox, tu test puis tu transfert et seulement ensuite t'emerge @system puis @world :)

Tiens, un truc qui m'a faite tourner en bourrique un certain temps, c'est dans les nouvelles installations : ne pas oublier de faire python-updater, je sais pas pourquoi mais l'ebuild oublie de le faire depuis un certain temps :'(

Et pour l'histoire des emerge suite a update GCC, faut suivre aussi la discussion avant de parler dans le vide ! J'ai dit que j'emergeai sur du grandement instable dans une sandbox chroot pour faire des tests de compilation pour pas casser mon système, youhou, c'est une devbox

Pour x32, je suis au courant que c'est dispo. Je ne comprenais juste pas bien le sens de ta phrase.
 
Je me demandais si tu utilisais un système x32 ? Si tu n'utilise pas de système x32, je ne vois pas le lien entre le récent support de l'ABI x32 et le fait que la migration vers gcc-4.7 roule toute seule.

Le rapport, c'est que les modifs qu'ils font sur les package (I.E. patchs) pour que l'ABI x32 (destiné a tourner sur amd64 en remplacement de multilib pour java/flash par exemple ?) tourne, servent a stabiliser les packages pour le main tree, et que donc de facto quand tu compile la toolchain/kernel, ça passe comme dans du beurre, faut suivre aussi le fait que :

Je voulais juste comprendre ... Ca m'intéressait aussi d'avoir un retour sur une possible utilisation d'un système x32.
 
Pour moi, x32 est quand même une archi à part entière de la même manière que x86 ou x86_64 donc les patchs pour cette archi ne sont pas forcément utiles pour les autres. Après, on est d'accord que lorsque qu'un dev bosse sur un ebuild il peut mener d'autres actions en parallèle (bump, stabilisation ...).

Ben, pour le moment x32, on va dire que c'est utilise face a x86 sur les packages que tu peu compiler (plus de perf, addressage mémoire non limité) mais tu doit quand même émulé x86 (pour faire tourner certains soft non compilable/proprio), en revanche x86_64 n'a pas besoin d'être émulé lui (et inversement, x32 n'a pas besoin d'être émulé sous x86_64) donc t'a un progrès en portabilité.
Ceci dit, tant qu'on devra se taper x86 ou x86_64, ça fait 3 branches a maintenir et demander 3 builds aux dev proprio.
 
Et y'a énormément de bump x32 dans x86_64 niveau toolchain, glibc et kernel (au moins pour gentoo-kernel, me demande même si y'a encore une utilité a maintenir kernel-vanilla, devraient juste bumper kernell-vanilla-source pour la gloire et passer tout le monde en kernel patché)

J'ai quand même l'impression que x32 va tomber à l'eau rapidement vu la quantité de travail que ca demande pour un résultat pas si exceptionnel :

C'est a relativiser face a x86, x32 est plus proche de x86_64 et facilite les ports dans les deux sens, retire les limitations de gestion de bus/mémoire en x86, mais de l'autre côté x86 c'est l'architecture "historique" pc depuis le 8086 (même si faut bien l'avouer, depuis le pentium-pro, je connais plus grand processeurs qui tournent directement en x86, maintenant c'est plus interpréteur + scheduler JIT dans les CPU), donc les dev on l'habitude de tourner x86.
Seul les devs (et c'est pas propre a gentoo) qui feront l'effort pourront dire si l'arch marchera ou pas, mais actuellement faire l'impasse irait contre la philosophie de la distro et on peu pas se passer d'x86 :)

Bon bah 4.7.x fail de chez fail, le mieux que j'ai en "bootable" c'est :
kernel 3.5.6 + gcc 4.6.3 + grub2 GPT multiboot windows7 (sur un autre disque)
Avec march=core-avx-i et mtune=core-avx-i ca pootre déjà pas mal, mais j'ai franchement hâte d'avoir LTO utilisable :O
Et j'ai toujours ces foutus bug de regression des table DSDT ACPI pour la gestion des disques (ou contrôleur) dans les dmesg qui s'affiche.

C'est pas mal grub2 avec les themes, jolie bootloader (désolée pour la qualitée de l'image :O theme starfeild par défaut franchement sympa :O)

Oui, je me fournis à la source pour les noyaux, et je n'ai pas besoin de patchs auxilaires ;).
Grub2, il faudra aussi que je regarde le truc à l'occasion, histoire d'avoir un boot plus joli et en définition native (il n'y a pas d'urgence cela dit).

Au fait MysterieuseX, je vois que tu as une carte vidéo 78** : pourrais tu en dire plus sur son comportement et ce que tu en penses (je n'ai pas réellement trouvé de reviews sur ces cartes dans le cadre d'une utilisation Linux) ?

Je tourne en drivers proprio. Ca tourne plutôt pas trop mal, mais y'a une perte de performances par rapport au mode "natif" (l'architecture est plus orientée DX11 qu'openGL) d'environs 20%. Les drivers demandent une gymnastique pour arriver a un résultat satisfaisant (virer KMS, vesa et VGA du kernel, rajouter le mtrr cleanup et le mtrr sharing sur le numéro 1 dans le kernel, utiliser uvesafb + v86b + klibc, dans l'ordre) et passer les bons paramètres dans le bootloader (exit syskernel et le bootloader intégré du noyau).
Le driver renvoie un warning (le driver pense qu'un kernel SMP + PREMP n'est pas safe) mais rien de bien méchant.
Sinon, ben c'est comme tout les drivers graphiques : rebuild du module obligatoire a chaque installation d'un nouveau kernel.
 
La carte en elle même, elle chauffe pas et fait largement tourner tout ce qui tourne sur linux. Elle est plus performante qu'une GTX660TI sous windows, mais c'est équivalent sous linux, les cartes au dessus, c'est vraiment trop gros après. J'ai pas de kernel panic a déplorer, ni d'erreurs
 
Pour te donner une idée, c'est plutôt la carte mère qui me fait m'arracher les cheveux, et pourtant j'ai sélectionnée une asus qui n'a pas "trop" de chips additionnels. (juste un pont PLX, l'USB3 provenant de l'asmedia un peu récalcitrant et la carte mpcie sur chip BCM) et pourtant ... Asus compile ses kernel comme un pied du coup, manque 3/4 des tables ACPI

Souvenez vous, il y a quelques temps je vous parlai de mes problèmes d'ACPI sur ma carte mère. Pour faire simple il était vraisemblable que cela viennent d'une implémentation "foireuse" de l'ACPI dans le bios ainsi que d'une régression kernel. Et bien oui et non.

Reprenons depuis le début donc avec les spécifications de la carte mère : UEFI. Depuis le début en fait, la table ACPI DSST/DSSP et autre est bonne, c'est juste que Asus (et en fait BEAUCOUP de fabricants de carte mères a l'avenir) n'a pas jugé bon d'implémenté une émulation BIOS "viable". Et le support SMBus, la même chose. Tout ceci ne sont des informations disponibles qu'en mode de boot UEFI.
Donc, dans ma migration depuis peu je suis passée de BIOS mode + partition GPT via grub 2 vers UEFI + refid (en mode kernel direct loading) + partition GPT et plus d'erreurs ni de warning, avec kernel identique (juste la ligne de prise en charge EFI).
Problème dans la migration : doit être obligatoirement fait via un liveCD supportant EFI pour avoir un kernel "natif" si on ne s'y connais pas, une autre solution consiste a installer son système avec les prérequis EFI, puis configurer un kernel EFI, booter sur le kernel EFI et faire un bootstrap temporaire, recompiler les modules du kernel, rebooter et terminer le bootstrapping.
Je précise que ça vaut pour toutes les distros linux.
Prochain but : installer secure boot.
 
Edit : cerise sur le gâteau, les framebuffer des cartes ATI sont UNLOCK et FULLY AVAIBLE, donc gros gain de performance. Merci les accès mémoire wrappés en mode EFI.
