Personnaly I watch all my movies in VO (Dvd & co), and i'm playing in a German clan. I'm speaking german at home, and I live in France. Ausserdem ist Deutsch tatsächlich eine Wunderschöne Sprache, wenn mann sie beherrscht
 
 

 
yeah i also noticed many germans sound like they think their language is the only in the world, i worked a bit at Siemens here as a student and most of the people here had to learn german because many of their german employees don't speak any english or french at all...
 
btw it's also good to hear that some people here can actually talk english quite well
 
and for the info i also speak dutch quite well, but not as well as i should   i also talk a bit of spanish but apparently i have an allergy with this language as i still don't know crap even after 2 years of courses

You might have met the wrong people to talk this way about germans ... Well, I prefer german to french, but I speak both fluently and I don't mind speaking french rather than german, even with german friends. It's just a completely different language, in french it's easier to flame someone, and in german you may be able to express feeling better
