Question au passage. Le noyau a basculer du 5.4 au 5.10 y'a quelque temps. Qu'en est il du 5.4 actuellement ? Je ne vois pas de suivi sur celui ci.

C'est à dire ?
Il n'y a qu'un noyau, le 5.10 actuellement. Il y a eu des moment fugitifs avec un deuxième noyau en testing mais c'est tout.

Oui je sais qu'il n'y en a qu'un c'est pour ca que je dis qu'il y'a eu bascule du 5.4 au 5.10 et ca peu après le 5.4.78. Ma question c'était de savoir s'il y'avait encore un quelconque suivi/support du 5.4 mais tu semble confirmé ce que je pensais, à savoir niet.  
 
J'avais essayé, il y a quelque temps, de mettre le 5.4.78 sur la 14.2 mais avec des problèmes lors de sorties de veille. Je voudrais reprendre ces tests en respectant les évolutions du 5.4, mais bon si ca s'est arreté, je resterai sur une vieille version :/

J'avais essayé, il y a quelque temps, de mettre le 5.4.78 sur la 14.2 mais avec des problèmes lors de sorties de veille. Je voudrais reprendre ces tests en respectant les évolutions du 5.4, mais bon si ca s'est arreté, je resterai sur une vieille version :/

Nouvelles du front:

 

J'ai refait ma migration 14.1 vers 14.2 en suivant les règles du fichier https://slackware.osuosl.org/slackw [...] PGRADE.TXT et du fichier 'CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT'.
Comme en tellinit 1 on perd le copier/coller j'avais préparé les commandes à lancer sous forme d'une dizaine de petits scripts à lancer.
Résultat OK !  :bounce:

 

Snapshot de sécurité avant de faire la mise à jour 14.2 de base vers la current.

 

Pour cette MAJ j'ai modifié mon script général:
slackpkg update -> OK
slackpkg install-new -> N'a rien fait. On dirait qu'il attend une paterne.
slackpkg upgrade-all -> OK
slackpkg clean-system -> OK
Réinstallation de LILO... Ça roule.
cd / -> OK
lftp -c 'open http://slackware.com/~alien/multilib/ ; mirror -c -e 14.1' -> OK
cd 14.1 -> OK
upgradepkg --reinstall --install-new *.t?z -> ERROR
upgradepkg --install-new slackware64-compat32/*-compat32/*.t?z -> Pas lancé.

 

Je m'étais planté l'autre fois car j'avais créé un directory /14.2 vide. En fait il faut continuer avec l'existant.

Comme en tellinit 1 on perd le copier/coller j'avais préparé les commandes à lancer sous forme d'une dizaine de petits scripts à lancer.
Résultat OK !  :bounce:  
 
Snapshot de sécurité avant de faire la mise à jour 14.2 de base vers la current.
 
Pour cette MAJ j'ai modifié mon script général:
slackpkg update -> OK
slackpkg install-new -> N'a rien fait. On dirait qu'il attend une paterne.


 
Après avoir passé les miroirs sur current, je te conseillerais de faire un "rm -f /var/lib/slackpkg/{ChangeLog.txt,pkglist,cache/*}" avant de faire "slackpkg update".
"slackpkg install-new" devrait trouver plein de packages à installer, dont certains sont vitaux.
 
Sinon, /etc/rc.d/rc.gpm et tu devrais récupérer le copier-coller.
 
edit: /var/lib/slackpkg/cache est lié à slackpkg+, tu peux oublier si tu ne l'as pas installé.

Je n'ai pas multilib, mais je trouve bizarre de ne pas RAZ temporairement la blacklist aussi.
 
Et faire peut-être un "slackpkg upgrade slackpkg" avant le "install new". slackpkg-15.0 a reçu pas mal de fix.

En fait je n'avais pas compris que le directory local "current" n'est qu'un buffer temporaire et qu'il doit s'appeler comme la tête hiérarchique du miroir.
On peut nettoyer /var/lib/slackpkg, ça ne mange pas de pain.

PS: Reste un loup avec les VBtools à voir...

  When we first moved Slackware to the Firefox ESR channel, the motivation
  was to keep Firefox secure while delaying a requirement for Rust at build
  time. Of course, eventually that ESR version reached EOL and we had to
  introduce Rust into Slackware 14.2 in order to continue providing updates.
  Eventually that also ran into roadblocks as Firefox required first newer
  C/C++ compilers, and then finally a newer libstdc++. To continue, we'd
  have had to bump GCC to a much newer version, making other maintenance
  difficult or impossible. At this point, the latest Firefox has no additional
  dependencies beyond those of the ESR version, and it's unlikely that it
  will be any more difficult to keep it maintained. I think we all want the
  Slackware 15.0 release to be as good as possible, and most users will be
  better served if we resume following the latest desktop releases.

Du coup, la mise à jour de firefox m'a occupé quelques heures le we dernier, entre lire les news sur les nouveautés de firefox, regarder les évols du script et la procédure d'upgrade. Au moins, le dernier point est noté et ne me prendra pas autant de temps la prochaine fois, mais ça fait plaisir d'être tranquille pour environ un an.

Avec le script que j'ai mis en lien (qui a changé de nom pour https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js mais c'est toujours le même) qui permet de forcer certaines préférences, étant donné que les préférences évoluent avec chaque version de firefox, si on veut que ça marche le mieux possible il faut mettre à jour le script, lire son changelog et ça implique des opérations de maintenance sur ses profils firefox.
 
C'est plus reposant de faire ça toutes les 42 semaines que toutes les 4 semaines.
 
En pratique, en fonction du changelog, il doit y avoir moyen de sauter quelques mises à jours du script sans trop d'impact, mais ça demandera quand même un minimum de suivi, avec éventuellement les avantages des nouvelles versions de firefox en contrepartie.

J'ai monté une VM pour voir un peu la v15. Récupération d'un ISO chez slackware.no et installation OK sur un HD de 20GB.
Puis mise à jour simple:
slackpkg update
slackpkg upgrade-all
Et les multilib chez alien.
 
Le premier passage est OK puis a la mise à jour suivante il y a autodestruction au moment de la commande "slackpkg upgrade-all".
Si reboot alors kernel panic. J'ai refais toute la manip plusieurs fois sans succès.
