Angry Ajax Claim Chelsea Chasing Duo
Fri 07 Oct, 1:11 PM
Ajax have spoken of their frustration after claiming two of their promising players have been approached by English champions Chelsea.
Seventeen-year-olds John Goossens and Jeffrey Sarpong caught the eye during the recent Under-17 World Championship in Peru.
Ajax claim Chelsea's technical director Frank Arnesen, a former player with the Amsterdam club, has contacted Soren Lerby, the agent of both players, to discuss a transfer with the duo not having signed professional contracts yet.
"What is happening here is really crazy," said Ajax director Arie van Eijden in AD Sportwereld.
"We are thinking about what we can do to prevent this from happening.
"You would think that agents also think in the interest of clubs like Ajax. It is impossible for us to give all juniors a contract already."
According to FIFA rules, Chelsea can sign the players for no more than 300,000euros but Ajax are hoping the players and their parents choose to sign a contract with the Amsterdam club instead.
