In Windows XP SP3 the required services for Wired 802.1x are not started automatically. Therefore the clients are not authenticated and do not gain network connectivity.  
 
After SP3 has rolled out and once the problem has occurred, you only have two possibilities:
 
a) manual configuration of each single client to start the required services
 
b) reconfiguration of all switches to disable 802.1x authentication
 
Resolution:

Before rolling out SP3 you need to take the following steps:
 
Step1: Pre-deployment
 
1.            Create a file called dot3svc_start.reg and put it in \\<domainname>\sysvol\<domainname>\scripts\
 
a.            Add the following to the file
 
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
 
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dot3svc]
 
"Start"=dword:00000002
 
2.            Create a file called dot3svc.bat and put it in \\<domainname>\sysvol\<domainname>\scripts\
 
a.            Add the following to the file
 
regedit /s \\<domainname>\sysvol\<domainname>\scripts\dot3svc_start.reg
 
3.            Using a GPO, add dot3svc.bat to the Shutdown scripts object.
 
4.            In the same GPO, set the dot3svc to Automatic
 
 
 
Step2: Deployment
 
1.            Confirm the clients process the shutdown script.  All that needs to be done is to confirm the Dot3svc registry key exists after a reboot.
 
2.            Deploy SP3 using normal procedures
 
 
 
Step 3: Post Deployment
 
1.            After you have confirmed SP3 installs correctly and the dot3svc service starts, remove the scripts.

Le numéro de licence est indiqué en clair dans un fichier texte à la racine du CD... non ?... il me semble que c'est un truc du genre.
Je suppose que dans ce fichier, il y a aussi le nom de la machine, le login du compte admin aussi je crois, et qq autres infos du genre. Tu devrais donc sans trop de souci remettre ton numéro de série bien à toi.
 
Et puis pour la taille... tu peux toujours graver ça sur un DVD (si tu peux) si vraiment ça passe pas sur un CD.

 
A partir du cd XP SP1 j'ai intégré le SP3 via nLite et le mien pèse 531 Mo, ça passera sans problème sur CD, t'as de la marge en plus c'est un fichier image ..
 
Si je dis pas de bétises c'est pas le CD qui est blacklisté mais la licence (corrigez-moi si je me trompe).  
Si la licence est déjà intégré dans le CD ( on te demande pas de numéro à l'install de XP ?) tu devrais voir si tu ne peux pas la virer, ou la remplacer par la tienne avec nLite!

60 hertz qui pique les yeux ? Groody tu es sur écran cathodique ou plat ?  
Le mien (un 19'' plat) supporte le 60, 70 et 75 Hertz c'est lequel qui est conseillé selon vous ?

De rien xolth, de toute façon tu crée facilement ton fichier ISO de ton XP, et tu peux utiliser un cdrw pour tester !

Le fait qu'il n'y ait pas de balayage ne veut pas dire que l'image ne change pas... !
 
Donc plus c'est élevé, mieux ça sera... ensuite, c'est si l'écran le gère correctement !

Jusqu'à maintenant j'avais le 60 hertz et j'ai modifié en 70 hertz,le pointeur de souris semble plus rapide sinon mon écran gère correctement les 3 fréquences dont je parle plus haut.
Ce qui m'intéresse c'est de savoir quelle est la fréquence qui use le moins l'écran ...

 
Tu sais, à la vitesse où les diagonales augmentent et les prix baissent, même le PC low cost de supermarché sera livré avec un 28" avant que ton écran ne claque.

Ce qui est vraiment important... et bien au delà de l'écran... et c'est là probablement la seule bonne question à se poser... Quelle est la fréquence qui use le moins les yeux ?

Il n'y a pas de balayage, ça fait pas mal aux yeux (sauf si évidemment tu passes une vidéo qui fait épileptique )

Oui, mais le balayage n'est pas la seule cause de trouble oculaire.
En effet, la fatigue est moins grande, mais un rafraichissement plus élevé augmentera la sensation de fluidité, fera diminuer l'effet de scintillement...
 
Ensuite, il est aussi important de trouver un bon équilibre luminosité/contraste...
 
(euh, on est un peu HS du SP3 là !)

Si on peut réduire notre fatigue visuelle en faisant une petite modif de fréquence oui c'est bien ! il faut voir ça à l'usage, merci des infos.  
 
 

drapal  SP3 chez moi nickel par contre il mettent jamais a jour les fichiers suivant ? : atapi.sys, scsi/raid host controler, partmgr.sys, disk.sys? qui datent de 2001 ?

 
XP n'aime qu'Adaptec et fait prout sur Intel, Silicon Image, Promise, nVidia et JMicron

Sous NT5.x, les drivers génériques se trouvent généralement compressés dans drivers.cab
 
Il suffit d'extraire ceux qui te serviront, mais c'est risqué : le comportement des pilotes peuvent ne pas être tout à fait les mêmes entre XP et 2003, même pour un même contrôleur de stockage.

J'ai rien remarqué en passant du sp2 au sp3, juste le nom service pack 3 qui apparaît.

Non j'ai ni perdu ni gagné en perfs ! Enfin bon cest surtout un gros patch de sécurité, ça peut faire que du bien.

juste une ptite astuce : qd on slipstream le SP3 dans un CD d'install, c'est une bonne idee de mettre un fichier dummy au debut(priorite basse) pour que les fichiers i386 se retrouvent a l'exterieur du disque(chargement 2.5x plus rapide qu'au centre).
 
sinon un XP tout propre avec SP3 embedded, IE6 est sous steroides chez moi

The New York Times is reporting that, according to an anonymous tipster close to Intel, the chip giant has decided against upgrading its computers to Windows Vista, and is instead clinging to Windows XP. The company, which employs about 80,000, made the decision after a lengthy analysis by its internal technology staff of the potential benefits of moving to Vista. It found none. At first glance, it would seem that Intel might be following in GM's footsteps and is considering "bypassing Vista," but after taking a closer look, this is not explicitly said. Intel is testing and deploying Vista in certain departments but it has not stated whether it is dismissing Vista altogether or if it is simply holding off a bit longer.  
 
It might come as a shock to some that this has happened before and may be no big deal. Microsoft blogger Ed Bott did a little digging and found that back in 2002, the same 80,000 employee-strong company announced it would be holding on to Windows 2000 a bit longer, instead of moving over to the superior XP. Many believe that business adoption of XP was very quick, but this is simply a myth. It is difficult to say whether Vista is doing better or worse than XP did for businesses; the sales numbers aren't terrible, but this means nothing when it comes to corporations and their decisions for upgrading.  
 
When the majority of businesses do eventually ditch XP, Windows 7 will already be available. Currently, Microsoft recommends upgrading to Vista before moving to Windows 7, but it's unlikely the company will be saying the same in 2010. If testing goes well and hardware and application compatibility problems do not plague Windows 7, adoption rates may go through the roof given that the upcoming OS is expected to have the same requirements as Vista. Either way, it's not as big of a deal as many make it out to be; many big corporations have deals with Microsoft where they regularly pay the software giant the same amount, regardless of whether they are currently using the latest OS or its predecessor.
