Based on the facts written in European magazines and within Atari's SEC-filing, we can conclude Interplay has re-gained the rights to Baldur's Gate 3. This will be seen during the earnings release due out April 14th.  
 
I intend to ask Herve during the conference call what he intends to do with the BG license. Does he wish to develop the game at an external studio or internally? If externally, would he consider asking Obsidian to develop the game? (One problem I see with Obsidian developing the game is that Interplay would probably have to wait some time before Obsidian could work on the game since they're currently working on KOTOR2, and if they have another team they're probably not of the same caliber of the team working on KOTOR2. In addition, I don't know how the management of Obsidian would feel partnering with Interplay.) Does Interplay choose to continue working on the existing content from Jefferson or develop an entirely new game? Does Interplay have plans on selling the license? Or they might want to sit on the license for a while, and when the time is right perhaps develop the game internally. These questions should be answered during the conference call. We've got 2 weeks left.

Bon en fait il faudra attendre le 12 avil pour la conférence annuelle d'INterplay, ils devraient annoncer un truc sur la licence BG3 à ce moment.

 
J'espére de tout coeur de c pas du Dark Alliance mais bel et bien un D&D pur et dure.
Ils se tournent de plus en plus coté console Interplay...

ptain ce serait génial, j'ai beaucoup aimé baldur's gate 1 et 2 et j'aime bien l'univers de donjons et dragons, dont les royaumes oubliés....  
 
quand au fait que ce ne sera certainement pas une suite à BG 2, tant mieux, sinon on aurait fini par se fritter contre des dieux, deja qu'on se tape un prince démon et des demi dieux à la pelle dans l'add on du 2 ....  
 
l'image me fait frémir, un bg en 3d qui conserverait un haut niveau de détail ce serait top .... enfin qui s'occuperaient du développement ??  
 
 
 

 
Sur le forum Interplay les gars parlent de + en + de Obsidian (à qui l'on doit notamment l'excellent KOTOR) mais pour l'instant c'est de la pure specul.

Obsidian est déjà bien occupé avec Kotor 2, si c'est la cas, pas de BG3 avant un moment.

"NeverWinter Nights 2 et Baldur's Gate 3 pourraient en effet bien arriver plus vite que prévu, c'est en tout cas ce qu'il ressort du magazine PC Gamer de ce mois-ci. A l'intérieur et en plus du test exclusif de Doom 3, il est bien sûr question des grandes lignes du prochain numéro. Parmi ces grandes lignes, il est question des prochains titres basés sur la licence Dungeons & Dragons : un jeu online et un RTS déjà annoncés mais donc surtout NeverWinter Nights 2 et Baldur's Gate 3. Les petits gars de chez HomeLAN Fed se sont empressés de contacter Atari à ce sujet et se sont vu répondre : "There may be some truth to that statement", soit en gros qu'il pouvait y avoir du vrai dans cette annonce..."

Over the weekend we reported that an Atari PR representative had posted on official forums that Baldur's Gate III and Neverwinter Nights II are in the works.
 
 
Well, now that we're into the working week, we've had a chance to check with that very same Atari PR rep, Brandon Smith, as to just what's going on. As it stands right now, neither title has been officially announced. Rather, the point of his post was to say that Atari owns the rights to both of these franchises (and all new Dungeons & Dragons videogames for that matter), and has no intention to abandon either of them. In other words, even if Baldur's Gate III is not in active development right now, Atari has every intention of producing another Baldur's Gate title for the PC. Further, they know very well that another BG title has big shoes to fill, given the glowing reception that the first two games received from both critics and players. Atari wants to do right by the series.
 
Can we say that either Baldur's Gate III or Neverwinter Nights II are definitely, officially coming? Not at this time. But Atari knows very well the value of both franchises, and intends to release further PC titles for both. As for possible developers, it looks like much-loved BioWare is not a given for either (possible) title, though whether BioWare ends up being involved or not, Atari also assured us that new Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights titles would get the attention of a top-level developer.
 
While none of this is the solid announcement we want for either game, it's reassuring news for fans of the franchises, and for PC RPG titles in general. Look for more updates just as soon as we get them.
