You should watch Friends without any subtitle ... they all speak well (Joey's got an accent, but after a few minutes you'll get him perfectly), understanding what they say is really easy, and jokes are soooo much more funny :D

Better watch Jerry Springer, then!
If you can understand everything in a Jerry Springer or a Montel Williams show, you don't have any problem with the english language. :D

Sure, I know both of them (but I only have 5 TV channels over here, so I can't watch :/), and they surely are the worst listening and/or understanding exercise for someone learning english :)

Radio Show Subversion
A radio station was running a competition ? words that weren?t in the dictionary yet could still be used in a sentence that would make logical sense. The prize was a trip to Bali.

DJ: ?96 FM here, what?s your name??

Caller: ?Hi, my name?s Dave.?

DJ: ?Dave, what?s your word??

Caller: ?Goan... spelt G-O-A-N pronounced ?go-an?.?

DJ: ?You are correct, Dave, ?goan? is not in the dictionary. Now, for a trip to Bali: What sentence can you use that word in that would make sense??

Caller: ?Goan fuck yourself!?

The DJ cut the caller off and took other calls, all unsuccessful until:

DJ: ?96 FM, what?s your name??

Caller: ?Hi, me name?s Jeff.?

DJ: ?Jeff, what?s your word??

Caller: ?Smee, spelt S-M-E-E, pronounced ?smee?.?

DJ: ?You are correct, Jeff, ?smee? is not in the dictionary. Now, for a trip to Bali: What sentence can you use that word in that would make sense??

Caller: ?Smee again! Goan fuck yourself!??

But the string "piss of" can be used to say that you're really annoyed: "That dog looks really pissed of ... we should go the other way"

I think the best way to really learn english spoken language is to watch movies in english without any subtitle :o
... every time I watch a subtitled movie, I dunno why but I quite always read the subtitles, even when I perfectly understood what was said [:spamafote]

Everybody does so, wahtever the language. Try watching a French movie with French subtitles and you'll see you can't help reading them ! The news on France 2 at sometime between 11 and noon has subtitles for hearing-impared people for example.

Good idea, and sometimes, the English track is in better quality (5.1 sound) than the French one (ie: the first DVD version of Pulp Fiction)
