SUNNYVALE, CALIF.-April 25, 2005-AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced
all existing and upcoming single- and dual-core AMD Athlon(tm) 64, AMD
Opteron(tm) and AMD Turion(tm) 64 processors are designed to be fully
compatible with and deliver world-class performance on Microsoft(r)
Windows(r) Server 2003 x64 Editions and Windows XP Professional x64
Edition.

"AMD is setting the 64-bit standard that the industry is
embracing today and our innovative AMD64 technology, together with
Microsoft's new x64 operating systems, will give millions of businesses,
PC and mobile users a chance to see the power of 64-bit computing come
to life," said Marty Seyer, corporate vice president and general
manager, Microprocessor Solutions Sector, AMD.  "AMD's industry
leadership is enabling a new set of applications and making pervasive
64-bit computing a reality. As the industry's only x86 processor
designed from the ground up for 64-bit computing and multi-core
technology, AMD64 technology-powered notebooks, desktops and servers are
the best choice for leveraging these two evolutionary computing
advances."

"While some suggested it would be impossible to create an
x86-compatible processor with competitive 64-bit and 32-bit performance,
AMD plowed ahead and demonstrated it could be done," said Nathan
Brookwood, principal analyst at Insight 64. "AMD64 technology has
altered the industry's direction and provides users with a
non-disruptive path to 64-bit computing. Microsoft's release of these
x64 Windows editions provides another critical element needed for that
64-bit migration."

"Microsoft developed the Windows Server 2003 x64 Editions and
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition in close collaboration with our key
partners, including AMD," said Brian Valentine, Senior Vice President,
Windows Core Operating System Division  at Microsoft.  "This collaboration is helping usher in a new era in computing that opens the door for high-speed applications including new features along with improved performance, stability and security.
Together with the new x64 platform, AMD's introduction of 64-bit
dual-core processors offers even greater performance gains for Windows
users, while still enabling users to run both 32-bit and 64-bit
applications."

All AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Opteron processors use AMD's Direct
Connect Architecture, which enables world-class 32- and 64-bit
performance on Microsoft Windows and other industry-leading client and
server operating systems and applications.

AMD's leadership and commitment to innovate within industry
standards was again demonstrated last week with the introduction of the
world's first x86 dual-core 64-bit processors for servers and
workstations, the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors.  The convergence of
AMD64 dual-core processors and 64-bit optimized software will
significantly boost performance across a broad spectrum of enterprise
and compute-intensive applications. Because it was designed from the
ground-up to support multi-core platforms, AMD64 technology provides
investment protection by enabling business and power users to deploy the
best dual-core technology in their existing industry-standard
environments.

AMD64 Industry Support

AMD64 technology-based desktop, mobile, workstation and server
systems are available from leading system builders around the globe
including ACER, Egenera, Fujitsu Siemens, HP, IBM, Sun and others.

"HP and AMD are excited to bring the benefits of 64-bit
computing to businesses customers worldwide," said Jeff Groudan, vice
president of commercial desktop marketing, Imaging and Personal Systems
Group, HP.  "HP's new dx5150 Business Desktop PC featuring the AMD
Athlon 64 processor and Microsoft's x64 Edition operating system
provides our customers with enhanced levels of performance.  With
support for dual-core architectures, latest security features and
high-performance processors, HP and AMD are delivering innovative
systems to meet customers' needs today and in the future."

"Sun Microsystems and AMD are working together to bring
innovative Windows-certified systems to the 64-bit enterprise market,"
said John Fowler, executive vice president, Network Systems Group at Sun
Microsystems. "Sun's complete range of high-performance AMD64-based
systems and StorEdge family of products provides the flexibility, versatility, identity management and cross-platform integration customers need to run their businesses."

About AMD64
AMD64 evolves the industry-standard 32-bit x86 architecture to support
the demanding 64-bit environment and enables next-generation

32-bit software they own today while preparing for a seamless transition
to high-performance 64-bit applications. Designed from the ground up to
support multi-core capability, AMD64 dual-core processors amplify the
elegance and power of AMD's current single-core solutions. The AMD64
architecture is also designed to enhance the security of your computing
environment by integrating Enhanced Virus Protection technology enabled
by advanced anti-virus features in Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows
