This MP3 player definitely exceeded my expectations. It blows away the competition in many categories:
- Price Less that $139 for a 128MB player!
- 128MB internal memory, more than double what most competitors have.
- Compact Flash slot, Daisy smartly decided to include (in my opinion) the best memory format. You can presently buy 256MB & 512MB CF cards at very reasonable prices. Other units that use MMC or Smart Media cards have limited expansion capability, as only 128MB cards are presently available in these formats.
- Size and weight. This unit fits in your pocket, and with the battery is about as light as a pack of cigarettes.
- Resume function. There are only one or two players out there at present that include this function. For all of the rest of the players out there, it's vaporware...
- Battery life. 10-12 hrs on one alkaline AA cell!
- No copy protection. Daisy was smart in excluding any form of copy protection. You are completely free to copy MP3's AND any other file type you chose to the player, regardless of where the files came from. In fact the player can act as a portable HD to transfer any type of file between PC's. (Note the player only plays MP3's, but other files can coexist in memory.)
- No special drivers or software required for Win ME or 2K. Just plug the unit into the USB port on your PC and the Diva shows up as a drive in Explorer.
This player is also rock solid. I've had it for about a month now and it has never crashed or malfunctioned. (If you want horror stories go read user comments about the NEX II or the Archos players!)
I added a 256MB CF card ($99) to my player for a total of 384MB! This is enough to hold 5 to 6 hours of music (encoded at 128 & 160Mbps). I highly recommend this player if you are looking for a low cost, feature packed, expandable MP3 player. This is a perfect player for joggers and outdoorsmen, due to its small weight and size.
