ça te dit ça quand tu essaye de régler un paramètre auquel le pilote de ta carte wifi ne te donne pas accès... iwconfig essaye d'être le plus large possible dans les possibilités de configuration mais tout les pilotes ne supportent pas tout les paramètres possibles et imaginables.

Oui, quand je redémarre mon réseau voici ce que j'obtiens.

Intel vient de sortir (17/05) de nouveaux drivers (version 1.0.4) et firmware (version 2.3) pour ipw2200.
 
Au programme :
 
    * correction de nombreux bugs
    * ajout de QoS (QualityOfService)
    * et ajout du tant attendu mode "monitor", qui va enfin permettre d'utiliser des logiciels comme Kismet

je viens d'avoir un ASUS A6 avec la Intel ipw2200!
je l'ai bien installer avec mon kernel et les sources et autres firmware, bref ca marche!
enfin ca marche plus apres mon reboot,  
tous a disparue ma connection wifi etait sur eth1.
je n'arrive meme pas a retablir ma connection en la réinstallant comme la premiere fois (dezipage du module compris)

Il te faut mettre le module ipw2200 dans /etc/modules afin qu'il soit charge au boot.
# echo ipw2200 >> /etc/modules
(note bien les deux >> )

j'ai tres bien compris le

mais j'ai mis  
ipw2200 dans mon /etc/modules

et ca marche pas je susi toujours en ETH0 sans wifi

Il manque peut etre un autre module

Depuis le noyau 2.6.12 impossible de compiler mes pilotes ipw2200 version 1.0.4. pourtant ça marchait impéc avec le noyau 2.6.11.x. QQun a-t'il le même prob ?

Je me suis enfin decidé a me lancer dans ce sport qu'est la configuration de cette carte sur un Amilo M1425 avec une 2200BG.
 
J'avais essayé avec la Mandrake 10.1 mais j'avais
ipw2200: Unable to load firmware: 0xFFFFFFFE
ipw2200: failed to register network device
en boucle sur les logs systeme. L'interface eth etait quand meme reconnue comme etant Wifi donc je pouvais  essayer des trucs par iwconfig mais sans succes, j'arrivais pas a up l'interface.
 
Pas le courage d'aller jusqu'a recompiler le noyau ou le driver alors j'ai installé la Mandrake 10.2, mais maintenant l'interface eth n'est meme pas reconnue comme Wifi. J'en suis donc la.

Cette erreur est decrite dans les issues du driver sourceforge comme etant due a un timout:

mais pour un kernel 2.6.9 or j'ai un 2.6.11; j'ai quand memme essayé ca, ca change rien.
 
Je vois pas quoi essayer d'autre que des recompil de noyau mais j'avais 2 questions:
 
1) apparament l'erreur se situe au niveau du chargement du firmware, donc pour l'instant ca n'a rien a voir avec le driver et donc ca ne sert a rien de le recompiler?
 
2) j ai lu qu'il fallait aussi installer des module crypto crc32 et ac34 qui ne sont pas installés par defaut; mais ca c'est pour permettre la configuration de la securité au niveau du driver, non? Or pour l'instant je n'en suis qu'a essayer de charger le firmware pour faire reconnaitre l'interface eth. Est ce le probleme peut quand meme etre lié cette dependance?
 

Tu as mis le firmware dans /usr/lib/hotplug ?

OK c'etait ca: soit la mandrake est livrée avec un driver 1.0.1 un firmware 2.3 au lieu d'un firmware 2.2, soit c'est moi qui devrais arreter d'upgrader des firmwares a l'heure ou je devrais etre au lit lol
Apparament ca fonctionne bien en WEP-104, mais mon probleme est que  je suis obligé de faire un # ifup eth3
apres un reboot; alors que
# grep ONBOOT /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth3

Apres qq jours d'utilisation ...
Je suis resté sur le WEP-104 avec le driver ipw220 v1.0.4, vu que le wpa_supplicant a trop de bug avec cette version pour etre utilisable, dont "No space for Tx" (bugzilla IPW2100/2200 n°667) qui a priori sera corrigé dans la version v1.0.5.  
Il fonctionne correctement en WEP, avec quelques  
 
"ipw2200: Firmware error detected.  Restarting."
de temps ce qui n'est pas trop grave. Par contre il sa duree de vie est d'environ 1 jour (WIFI connecté mais plus rien ne passe) , il faut alors decharger les modules
 
ipw2200
firmware_class
et les recharger pour arriver a le refaire fonctionner le reseau.
Le WEP est donc utilisable, en attendant le WPA.
Voila pour le moment.

  Avec cette version, le WPA-PSK/TKIP/ fonctionne, (cle 252bits max). Toujours qq logs d'erreurs "ipw2200: Firmware error detected.  Restarting.", mais c'est tout. Reste a tester combien de  temps ca tient sans deco.

et puis le driver marche sous windows et linux mais pas le mode monitor

Y a t'il un moyen software de couper l'alim à la carte miniPCI 2200BG ? (pas de bouton on/off pour le wifi sur mon portable)

je suis sous Ubuntu, et j'ai une ipw2100
jai installer les dernier driver et le dernier firmare. Le wifi fonctionne bien j'utilise le WPA sans probleme.
 
Mais je n'arrive pas a faire passer ma carte en mode monitor, donc impossible d'utiliser airsnort ou kismet.
 
j'aurais besoin de vos lumiere !!

 
Si c'est une Hoary c'est "normal" la version du driver n'est pas assez élevé il faut > 1.0.4

c'est une hoary, mais comme je le dit dans mon post j'ai mis le dernier firmware et le dernier driver.
