Bonsoir,
 
je me permet de faire appell a vous avant de mettre ma radeon 9500pro a la poubelle et de modire ATI a jamais.
 
J'ai installer les drivers pour ma carte graphique sans difficultes particuliers.  
 
Je peux demarrer X et confirmer que j'utilise les drivers ATI (les derniers a jour) avec une carte mere GA7-VAXP ( KT400).  
 
Mon probleme est le suivant: Je ne peux pas travailler plus de 2 minutes sans un freeze complet du system. Je perd meme le reseau.  
L'ecran freeze et chose etrange je peux deplacer le curseur de la sourrie sur le plan horizontal seulement.  
 
J'ai eplucher les forums, les archives de newsgroup, etc ... Je n'ai pas trouver d'autre personne decrivant les memes symptomes.
 
J'ai fait des tests aussi avec des drivers plus anciens d'ATI ainsi que les drivers Schneider Digital. Le resultat est toujours le meme que ce soit avec un kernel 2.4 ou un 2.6 ... J'ai aussi changer la memoire de mon PC contre celle d'un pote. Cela n'y a rien fait.
 
Lorsque je lance X avec le drivers MESA je n'ai aucun probleme particulier mais je perd evidament l'acceleration 3D. Penible quand on a mis 280 ? dans un CG ... :(
 
Si l'un de vous a une solution ... Je suis sur le point de remettre  ma vielle GF4 MX 440 a la place de la radeon et de partir a la recherche d'une TI-4600 d'occase ou autre carte Nvidia.

Avec le kernel 2.4 / KT 600 / Radeon 9600 Pro , je n'ai aucun problème de stabilité . Sans éditer manuellement un fichier ,je n'ai pas de direct rendering mais ça ne change rien.

oui je connais le howto que tu m'as donné. Il m'a d'ailleurs permis de faire un test et de reproduire le probleme avec divers drivers ATI et schneider sous divers noyaux 2.4 et 2.6

T'es sûr que tu ne t'es pas emmêlé les pinceaux quelque part car il y'a quand même pas mal de personnes qui n'ont pas de problèmes de stabilité ...:/
 
Il y'a pas mal de monde qui n'arrive pas à activer l'accélération matérielle mais des problèmes de stabilité ça me paraît plus rare mais peut être que je me trompe.

ouais je sais bien que le probleme est rare voir inconnu ...  
 
J'ai certainement fait une erreur qque part. La seul chose est de savoir ou ? S'agit t'il d'un probleme d'AGP, d'un probleme soft, d'un probleme de compilation d'Xfree, etc ...
 
je ne sais plus ou chercher et quoi verifier.

Perceverence indispensable avec les radeons ca fini toujours par fonctionner.
Pour preuve, tu tappes dans recherche radeon ou autres tu verras a chaque fois un utilisateur te repondras :)  
 
Si tu pouvais tout de meme mettre ici ton xconfig86 et les logs console lorsque tu as ton freeze, ca permettrais a des personnes experimente de t aider plus rapidement

je peux poster mon XF86Config-4 cele ne pose pas le probleme. Pour ce qui est des logs consoles j'aimerai pouvoir les poster mais il n'y en a pas quand ca plante. Meme les MagicsKeys ne fonctionnent plus.

et la boum ... le plantage ... Il semble que XFree tente d'attaquer ma carte graphique ou un autre hardware en direct ce qui provoque un plantage.

bon et bien je suis en pleine maj de mon OS. On verra bien cela change qqchose meme si je dois avouer que plus ca va moins j'ai d'espoir d'arriver a qqchose ...
