Jumper settings
Models: DDYS-T36950, T18350, T09170
Ultrastar 36LZX models have two jumper blocks, J4 and J6, which are located on the logic card as shown below. 68-pin models also have an auxiliary connector

68 pin auxiliary connector
The 68 pin models have an auxiliary connector between the power connector and the 68-pin SCSI connector that replicates some of the functions contained in the J4 and J6 option jumper blocks.
Note: Either the option jumper blocks (J4 and J6) or the 68-pin auxiliary connector can be used but do not use both.

SCSI address settings
The SCSI address of the drive is specified by installing jumpers on jumper block J4 pins 7 and 8 (ID bit 0), 9 and 10 (ID bit 1), 11 and 12 (ID bit 2), and 13 and 14 (ID bit 3). The auxiliary connector can also be used to specify the SCSI address for the drive.
Notes:
SCSI address 0 is the shipping default for 80-pin models.
SCSI address 6 is the shipping default for 68-pin models.

Pin descriptions
Auto Start and Delay Start 6/12 pins
These pins control when and how the drive spins up with the combination of Position #5 on J6. When both Auto Spin up and Auto Start Delay are enabled, the drive start will be delayed by a period of time multiplied by its own SCSI address. If Auto Spin up is disabled, these jumpers will be ignored. Throughout this paragraph 'on' means a jumper is installed and 'off' means that no jumper is installed.
Disable SCSI Parity Check
Installing a jumper disables SCSI Parity checking.
Enable TI-SDTR
Installing a jumper enables Target Initiated Synchronous Data Transfer Request Negotiation.
Disable Unit Attention
Installing a jumper enables control of UAI (Unit Attention Inhibit) bit in Mode Page 0.
LED pins
The LED pins are used to drive an external Light Emitting Diode. Up to 30 mA of sink current capability is provided. The LED Anode must be tied to the current limited + 5 V source provided on the pin for LED Anode at the Location #1 on J4 jumper block. The LED Cathode is then connected to the pin for LED Cathode at the Location #2 on J4 jumper block to complete the circuit.
Force Single Ended Mode
If a jumper is installed, the drive is forced to work as a single-ended mode drive.
Term Power
NC for 80 pin models. If a jumper is installed on 68 pin models, termination power is supplied to pins 17, 18, 51, and 52 of the 68 pin SCSI interface.

SCSI Bus Cable
SE mode:
The maximum cumulative cable length when using a single-ended transceiver should be 3 meters. Implementations that limit the transfer rate to a maximum of 5 megabyte transfers per second may extend the cumulative cable length to 6 meters. (ANSI SCSI-3 X3T10/855D).
The maximum cumulative signal path between terminators shall be 3.0 meters when using up to 4 maximum capacitance (25pF) devices. The maximum cumulative signal path length between terminators shall be 1.5 meters when using from five to eight maximum capacitance devices. (ANSI SCSI-3 FAST-20 X3T10/1071D).
LVD mode:
The maximum cumulative cable length when using an LVD transceiver must comply to the limit, which is defined by ANSI SCSI-3 X3T10/855D.
The maximum cumulative signal path between terminators shall be 12 meters when using up to 4 maximum capacitance (25pF) devices.
The maximum cumulative signal path length between terminators shall be 12 meters when using from five to eight maximum capacitance devices. (ANSI SCSI-3 FAST-20 X3T10/1071D).

Terminators
Onboard SCSI active termination is not supported. The using system is responsible for making sure that all required signals are terminated at both ends of the bus cable.
Note: LVD versions cannot provide bus termination. However, 68 pin DPSS
versions can be jumpered to provide Terminator Power.
The following are 68 pin model terminator examples:
Data Mate DM2750-01-LVD (LVD only)
Amphenol 497040001 (Multimode)
