1. Extract the driver into a temporary directory.
2. De-install the old driver (see also de-installation of the driver after this paragraph) or delete, after a new installation of the operating system, the entry for the modem (“PCI Communication Device”) at the device manager (start – settings – control panel – system – hardware – device manager [classic view] respectively start – control panel – performance and service – system – hardware – device manager[category view]) under “Other components”.
3. Reboot your PC.
4. The assistant for searching new hardware: “PCI-Communication device (simple)” will be started.
5. Choose “Install the software from a list or a special source (for advanced users)” and continue with “Next”.
6. Search this source for the correct driver. Activate “search also the following source” and specify the directory, where you have extracted the driver or search the position with the option “search”. Important is, that you have given the complete path. Confirm this window with “Next”.
7. The PC is searching the given sources and find “Creatix V9X HAM Data Fax Modem”. The software will be installed.
8. Completion of  the assistant. The software for the following hardware has been installed: Creatix V9X HAM Data Fax Modem. “Finish”.
9. The modem should be available at the control panel (printer and hardware) under telephone- and modem-options.
