Produced by David Axelrod. McCallum was the star of the TV show The Man from U.N.K.L.E.. This is his second album, and it did well, giving Axelrod a big boost in his career. Most of this album, however, is worthless; lounge music for the deaf or some shit. “The Edge,” though, is written by Axelrod himself and is one of the more sought after songs that he did. It seems to have a cult following of its own, apparently, according to all the email messages I’ve received. It’s definitely an incredibly fat track, in a old school, mod type of way. It may not be everyone’s cup of joe, but it commands respect nonetheless. This is an early look at what Axe was writing right before Songs of Innocence (I would guess). Nowadays it's common, yet very strange to hear this coming out of someone's lowrider. Dr. Dre re-played it on a track on his new album.
