Dear Mad Cow,
Thank you for your interest in Active Cool cooling systems. You are
correct that it is includes a Peltier element powered by a
high-efficiency power converter on a PCI card. I am attaching a
description of how it works and specifications with test results.
Preliminary results with P4 3.06 GHz are as follows:
Test was run using ThermalTake XaserII case (this is a large case with
good air flow).
CPU BurnIn was run continuously to stress processor (we used to run
SiSoft Sandra, but CPU BurnIn provides considerably more heat
stress--and appears to accurately reflect the most processor-intensive
applications in the marketplace).
Maximum CPU temperature (Intel Monitor--thermal diode inside the CPU):
44°C
Maximum system temperature: 40.5°C
We are very pleased with these results. This definitely appears to
eliminate all overheating or activating Tcc. In the near future, I will
try to convince the laboratory to run the test on a smaller case with a
duct fan and sleeve (modders can easily make these at home). I expect
the results to be similar.
I hope this helps.
