16/05/2006 - Nintendo annonce la fin du GameBoy
Citation :

Citation :
Sources indicate Nintendo will not reveal the successor to the GameCube, codenamed Revolution, at E3 2005. (...) Specifically, Nintendo will focus on its new online service for the Nintendo DS and perhaps the new Game Boy Advance. Not the genuine successor to the GBA, but an improved version of the current model boasting new features such as built-in wireless networking. It may also include the Play-Yan adapter, enabling gamers to download games and videos. And of course, Nintendo will spill a ton of information on its new, free online service, since it's actually set to debut later this year.

Japanese giant Nintendo is set to focus strongly on the handheld market at E3, with a new revision of the GBA hardware and the unveiling of the DS online service set to take centre stage while Revolution is consigned to a video presentation.
(...)
Instead, the focus of Nintendo's conference will be on the handheld market - with the rumoured new version of the Game Boy Advance hardware set to make an appearance for the first time, along with the first demonstration of the Nintendo DS' Wi-Fi powered online functionality.
The new GBA, however, is categorically not the "GBA2", Nintendo's genuine next-generation handheld console. The system is expected to be an update to the existing GBA hardware, perhaps sporting built-in wireless networking and the Play-Yan adapter for playing downloadable games and videos, both of which have up until now been separate components.
(...)
Nintendo's conference takes place on the morning of Tuesday, May 17th - Pacific Standard Time, of course, so expect the first reports to start emerging at about six o' clock in the evening, British time.

GB Elite maison !
11/03/2005 - Reggie Fils-Aime : Pas de GB à l'E3 2005.
Citation :
GCA recently had the oppurtunity to talk to Reggie Fils-Aime at GDC yesterday. The popular NOA figure discusses more of their E3 plans.
AMN News Team Leader Ray Almeda had the recent oppurtunity to ask Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo's Vice President of Sales & Marketing, for a straight answer whether or not the Revolution would be playable or consumer-demoed at E3: "We'll have more details there. But as for playing it at E3, not a chance. It's still way too early." Also asked whether or not the upcoming Game Boy system, labeled "Game Boy Next" by some, would make any appearance at E3, Reggie said, "Game Boy Next? What is this Game Boy Next? People keep talking about Game Boy Next here and there. We're still committed to focusing all of our priorities on the GameCube, our portable systems including the DS, and the Revolution. The next Game Boy will not make an appearance at E3. It's also way too early."

IGNcube: Is the next Game Boy in development?
Reggie: There are a lot of rumors out there on the next Game Boy. And quite frankly, it's a lot of rumor and speculation at this point. We're always thinking about our next generation, whether it's DS, whether it's Revolution or whether it's Game Boy Advance. When will that next system come out? We've got some time to go. Nintendo is to showcase the GBA2 at the next E3, which takes place in mid-May. Find out the details inside.
It has been revealed that Nintendo plan to show off the GBA2 at the next E3, which begins May 17th. The unit will apparently have a large high-quality back-lit screen, as well as analogue controls.
With the emergence of the GBA2 fans may be wondering, "what's the point of the DS?" Well apparently at E3 Nintendo will be showing off software that will make the DS more like a PDA.
According to Spong the new GBA2 will be based around the GameCube hardware, but that seems like a bit of a jump from the GBA. Still, more will be seen in May.

The new model of the Game Boy Advance will be shown at Nintendos E3 press conference this year in what will be one of the most remarkable moments in recent videogame history.
The unit will be a true gaming machine and will come equipped with a large high-quality back-lit screen and analogue controls, very much, one might argue, like Sonys PSP.
Nintendo staffers have confirmed to SPOnG.com that preliminary hardware will be shown both at the firms conference and encased alongside the Nintendo Revolution on the showfloor.
Indeed, SPOnG has been privvy to the emergence of the next-generation of Game Boy Advance for some time, though little more than its E3 debut was known.
As this news breaks, perhaps the most pertinent point to be mulled is exactly how Nintendo is going to explain the situation to fans and, of course, early adopters of the Nintendo DS. The answer to this conundrum is quite possibly the most incredible climb-down the games industry has ever witnessed.
Specifically, Nintendo will unveil a suite of PDA-focussed software for the DS powered by recently licensed Palm OS technology. The machine will evolve from a pure gaming machine into a PDA equipped to play Nintendo 64 quality games. Essentially, Nintendo believes that with the right software, it has a high-powered, wireless-enabled PDA capable of playing games of a higher standard than any competing device.
Picking up the pieces, however, will be something of a PR nightmare, something that Nintendo is fully aware of. The DS, announced so soon after the PSP was unveiled by Sony, was effectively a spoiler machine, aimed at snatching away market share from SCEI. Although this has been categorically denied by the Kyoto giant, the revelation that a new Game Boy, which in essence appears to be a PSP with a Nintendo badge, confirms this belief beyond any doubt.
The new Game Boy will be based around existing Nintendo GameCube hardware and will be, when it launches in the US and Japan towards the end of this year, the most powerful handheld console on the planet. SPOnG also believes it likely that the machine will make use of GameCube software. Revolution connectivity was confirmed.
By way of damage control, Nintendo must now cling to its ever-present third-pillar line regarding the DS. The firm has always claimed that the Dual Screen represents not a furthering of the Game Boy range, but something quite different. It would seem that those well-placed foundations will now be required to carry the hefty bulk of a complete reversal of application for a machine that was launched as a gaming device and will, within months, have its key role significantly altered. Game Boy is not dead prédit P.J.
