Same here, amarok crashes most often at startup, sometimes after playing a song and I hit the Stop-button. When it crashes it crashes everything, kicking me back to kdm.

This post is dead on. I would like to see the stability of Amarok improved. Amarok is a very nice player, but I can't use it anymore because it won't go more than 15 seconds while playing a sond without crashing. I also can't listen to radio stations because it will freeze on me.

Thank God I'm not the only one having these problems. This program crashes more times then I do for sleep. I swear, I'm amazed at how much this program crashes. It's just bogus. To even think of telling this guy to use xine instead of taking ownership and addressing the issue is completely out of line.
I've tried so many things to try to keep this thing from crashing, including new installs on solid hardware and it still goes boom. I've used it on multiple distros on multiple machines and still it goes boom everywhere.

Often the amarok window crashes but the last song plays till the end, i use the xine engine. Its getting boring with the time.

I've just tested the cvs version of april 10th. Amarok still freezes periodically on track change using the xine or akode engine. This problem doesn't occur with the gstreamer engine, but it has other issues. The gstreamer engine stops playing for a second when the computer is busy doing something else (like deleting a line in the message i'm typing right now) and on track change there's a gap (on some albums this is a big no no).

I've personally seen gstreamer, xine, and taglib being blamed for Amarok crashing horribly.
Personally, I find this hard to believe. But let's say it is true. Wouldn't that mean that it's time to consider using some libraries that work?

Sinon, pour les players externes à interfacer avec Amarok, la bonne nouvelle est qu'il en existe 183 694 différents, donc tu as beaucoup de choix. La mauvaise nouvelle, c'est qu'ils sont tous pathétiques à côté de Foobar, et la plupart d'entre eux misérables à côté de Winamp 0.1 beta4.
Bon courage aussi pour la gestion du son en général sous Linux, et les librairies qui changent toutes les 3 semaines, les incompatibilités, les drivers etc.
