did support surround sound... any help would be appreciated.
ok, here goes what i did to get sound from all the 4 speakers on my
sblive5.1 ... ( i used 4 speakers ( 2 connected to the front jack, and 2
to the rear jack ))...
alsamixergui:
mute the last culumn: sb-live analog output jack
now alsa:rear and alsa:front should work.
how to test it?
alsaplayer:
get a wav file,
and use:
"alsaplayer -d rear myfile.wav"
xmms:
get xmms-alsa plugin,
and in the xmms plugins configuration select alsa,
device-settings/user-defined:rear (or front)
and try some mp3's
if you don't hear anything, then try to find in alsamixergui the culumn
that regulates the volume for the rear ones ( i think it's somewhere
around surround digital ( the best is to maximize all the culumns :-)
now to test all 4 speakers
get a movie file with ac3 sound
xine:
in the config window select alsa audio,
and select the 4speaker mode or how is it called checkbox
-
now play the file
mplayer:
mplayer myfile.avi -ao alsa9:surround40 -channels 4
if you need more help, reply
