Salut ! Y a pas longtemps j'ai pu récupérer un Toshiba Tecra M5 qui a été mis à la benne, sans batterie, chargeur, RAM, lecteur DVD, HDD
Après changement et achats, voici son état :
-CPU : Core 2 Duo T7200 (upgrade, récup d'un PC mort)
-RAM : 2x1 GB DDR2
GPU : Quadro 110m, j'espère que ça va pas poser de souci
écran : 1024x768
HDD : 320GB 7200rpm
 
Alors voilà, j'ai essayé plusieurs distributions, à savoir d'abord une Mint XFCE, puis un Linux Lite, mais c'est un peu mou, et j'aimerai essayer Debian, mais gros débutant que je suis, j'ai du mal à savoir quelle version prendre...
Une Debian LXDE ? À savoir que je n'ai jamais installé de Debian avant...
En espérant que vous pourrez m'aider, j'aimerai bien sauver ce brave petit PC rescapé de la benne !

J'ai plutôt bien avancé, mais j'ai encore des soucis
Pour finir, histoire de me lancer un gros défi, je suis parti sur une debian minimale, puis j'ai installé openbox.
Seulement, j'ai quelques soucis :
-Pour la carte wifi, une intel 3945ABG, j'ai suivi ces instructions, mais toujours impossible de me connecter via wicd

-Par habitude et commodité, j'ai installé la barre des tâches xfce, seulement, j'ai cru comprendre que pour que les actions éteindre/mise en veille/redémarrer fonctionnent, il fallait utiliser le gestionnaire de session xfce, je remplace donc lightdm, mais j'ai un message : "could not get owner of name 'org.xfce.SessionManager': no such name
 
-J'aimerai utiliser un navigateur plus léger que firefox ou chromium, j'avais pensé à falkon, est-il dispo sous debian ? Ou avez-vous d'autres propositions ?
 
-Je n'ai pas bien compris comment permettre les icônes sur le bureau, j'ai cru voir qu'avec pcmanfm, que j'ai comme gestionnaire de fichiers, c'est possible, mais je n'ai pas trouvé
 
En espérant que vous pourrez m'éclairer, mes questions sont sans doute idiotes, je fais mon possible pour apprendre comment tout ça fonctionne, mais ça m'arrive d'être perdu ^^ (souvent)
 
Edit : Y a t-il moyen d'avoir un affichage du niveau de batterie dans la barre des tâches ? Et y a t-il besoin de quelque chose dans le genre tlp comme sous Ubuntu ?

T'as installé quels paquets exactement? lightdm n'est pas indispensable pour Xfce (il n'est pas installé chez moi p.ex.) mais il faut faire un peu de bricolage pour que Xfce a les droits nécessaires pour pouvoir éteindre le PC. Voir https://wiki.debian.org/fr/Xfce#Ins [...] _avec_Xfce

Pour le bureau c'est Thunar qui s'en occupe, normalement on peut mettre des icônes sans soucis. Si c'est pas possible ça doit être un problème de réglages dans Thunar.

Paramètres de XFCE, section Bureau, onglet « Icônes ».
Tu as une liste avec le choix entre « Aucun » (donc, pas d’icône affichée), « Icônes des applications réduites » (façon Windows 3.x) et « Icônes des applications/lanceurs » (donc, icônes des disques, du dossier utilisateur, des raccourcis vers des programmes/fichiers, etc.).

dmesg est une commande à entrer dans le terminal ? Je dois l'entrer une fois le câble ethernet (mis en attendant) débranché ou ça ne change rien ?
 
J'ai installé xfce4-panel, et xfce4-session en remplacement de lightdm, en suivant ce site, pour pouvoir utiliser les boutons d'actions :

Pour Falkon je verrai bien une fois les autres soucis réglés
 
Mais par contre, je n'ai pas un bureau xfce, mais openbox, c'est pour ça que j'ai du mal à mettre les icônes sur le bureau, j'ai essayé d'installer Thunar et rox-filer, mais aucun succès
 
Pour l'affichage de la batterie, ça fonctionne, merci !
 
Et pour le titre, croyez-le ou non, c'était volontaire la faute, j'ai hésité avec "résurrectation" aussi, mais si ça gêne je vais modifier  ;)

Exact, en tant que superutilisateur. Ca affiche le log système, soit beaucoup de trucs, si nécessaire tu peux calmer un peu le truc avec dmesg|more voir dmesg|tail.

Le retour de la commande dmesg était interminable, donc j'ai lancé la deuxième commande, j'espère que j'ai bien copié ce qu'il fallait :

C'est interminable mais quelque part dedans on peut peut-être trouver une erreur avec ton Wifi. Tu peux rediriger le tout dans un fichier et survoler tranquillement (voire utiliser la fonction recherche): dmesg >fichier.txt

Voilà la commande, j'ai recherché "wifi", et "3945abg", mais c'est au dessus de ce que je peux comprendre, et je viens de remarquer qu'en dehors du bip dans le terminal je n'ai aucun son, je vais me renseigner de ce côté.

Sinon tu peux mettre lxde comme tu le disais plus haut. Hormis pour le wifi ca fait plutôt tout ce que tu demande. Ca repose sur openbox et pcmanfm.  
 
C'est normalement proposé à l'install de debian dans le choix des environnements de bureaux. Sinon tu peux toujours rajouter le tout avec ca https://wiki.debian.org/LXDE.

Je vais finir par faire comme ça oui, c'était surtout histoire de me lancer un défi, ce PC n'est pas en utilisation, donc en théorie j'ai tout mon temps pour le mettre en état, je vais essayer de m'accrocher encore un peu, et si vraiment j'y arrive pas je ferai une clean install de debian LXDE, une debian minimale avec DE personnalisé c'était peut-être mettre la barre un peu haut pour un premier Debian :')

Je vois pas l'intérêt de changer maintenant pour LXDE, autant investir encore un peu de temps pour avoir un Xfce (qui est très bien!) fonctionnel... :o
 
Concernant dmesg ça nous dit que la carte Wifi est reconnue ("[   12.630320] iwl3945 0000:05:00.0: Detected Intel Wireless WiFi Link 3945ABG " ) et je ne vois pas d'erreurs sauf pour le IPv6. Tu as installé network-manager? Ca donne quoi la config?

Il dit dans son premier post avoir essayé xfce et qu'il trouve ca mou. LXDE est connu pour être plus léger que xfce. Lite je suis pas sûr mais ca à l'air d'être du lxde sur une base d'ubuntu. Pour avoir essayé la lubuntu, j'ai moi même été assez deçu par la conso des ressources et de la réactivité.

Salut !
J'ai trifouillé un peu dans ce que je pouvais trouver comme alternative à openbox, un DE custom comme première expérience Debian, c'était mettre la barre trop haut.
J'ai installé lxqt sur une Debian fraîchement installée, et c'est fluide, agréable, donc bref, ça convient.
La manip pour le wifi a fonctionné cette fois.
Au fait, sur Debian ça fonctionne aussi un truc du genre tlp pour augmenter l'autonomie comme sur Ubuntu ?
