About EECP
EECP is an unofficial extension of ECP that aims to build upon and enhance it in several ways:
1. By replacing the default BIS units with far superior community-made ones
2. By improving overall realism
3. By adding to and improving upon the graphical and audio effects that are already a part of ECP
4. By fixing errors and omissions made by BIS
What this means to you, the end user, is simple: With EECP installed you'll not only get the benefits of ECP's great effects, but you'll also be able to make use of Suchey & Earl's Russian Naval Infantry, BAS' UH-60L, the CSLA Mod's BMP-2s, or any one of dozens of other great addons in every single mission, regardless of whether the mission originally made use of those units or not. If you were to play the 1985 campaign with EECP installed, for example, you would find that all of the old BIS units that you expected to see are now replaced by the units listed below.
Note: EECP is intended for single-player use only. That is not to say that it will fail to function in multiplayer, but that it is largely untested. It should work acceptably in multiplayer if the server and all clients are running the same version of EECP. Using this config on a server not running EECP may yield undesirable results.

Installation Instructions
1. Install Dynamic Range and ECP Dynamic Range config. This step is essential. EECP depends upon many ECP scripts.
2. Install the required addons if they are not installed already. They may be installed to (Your OFP directory)\@ECP\Addons if you wish, but this is not essential.
3. Copy the EECP config.bin to (Your OFP directory)\@ECP\bin. When prompted, overwrite the old config.bin.
4. Copy EECP_RSC.pbo into (Your OFP directory)\@ECP\AddOns.
5. Copy the new ECP_Effects.pbo into (Your OFP directory)\@ECP\AddOns. You may overwrite the original.
6. Copy DTAEXT.pbo into (Your OFP directory)\@ECP\dta.
7. Play the game using your ECP OFP shortcut.
If you have followed these instructions and are experiencing errors, see the troubleshooting section.

Troubleshooting
Issue: Missing addon messages
Solution 1: Double-check to ensure that you have all of the required addons properly installed. 9 times out of 10, this is the cause of the problem.
Solution 2: If you have everything properly installed, you're more than likely running into one of OFP's (in)famous problems. If you haven't done so already, patch OFP to the latest version. Also consider using mod folders for your addons or adding the -nomap switch to your OFP shortcut.
If none of these solutions work, then the cause of this problem is most likely to be the config of the so-called "missing" addon. In other words, there's nothing that I can do to fix it, and it shouldn't have any adverse effects beyond dropping you out of a cutscene here and there.
Additional note: If the missing addon is CBT_Misc, don't worry about it. This is due to the way that the Combat units are configured and has nothing to do with my config, so I cannot fix it. The only fix is to unpbo the mission that you get the error in, add CBT_Misc to the Addons section of the mission.sqm in question, and then re-pbo the whole thing. If it doesn't bother you, you can just ignore it without any problems.
Issue: Cannot load mid-mission saves
Solution: There is none. This is a bug inherent to ECP (not because it is buggy, but because OFP can't keep track of all of ECP's variables in a save state.) This is fixed in ECP 1.075 and will be incorporated into the next version of EECP.
Issue: Crashes to desktop
First off, allow me say that there are no errors in the config itself that should cause this--I would never release it if there were. There are several things that can cause this, so there are several solutions.
Solution 1: Check to ensure that you do not have an addon loaded twice -- especially two different versions of an addon (Ex: BAS Delta/Ranger 1.55 in @ECP\Addons and 1.0 in Res\Addons)
Solution 2: An addon is corrupt. You'll need to experiment to find the culprit.
Solution 3: You're using the incorrect version of an addon. Example: Somebody had a problem with crashes when they were using a different version of Marfy's M925 truck than I used in the creation of the config. His PBO had a different name than the one that the config was pointing at for the model, so this caused problems.
Solution 4: Replace the ECP settings scripts in the root ECP directory (\@ECP\) with the original unmodified files. You can do this simply by reinstalling ECP, but if you do that, you will also need to reinstall EECP. Dreamline has reported that fractional values in these files as selected through the ECP options menu in-game can occasionally lead to problems.
Issue: "...I'm buried in the ground up to my waist, I can't move, and I can't shoot"
Solution: You're using the uncompiled version of the config and are equipped with only a handgun. This is another ECP bug, and stock ECP will exhibit the same behavior. Issue: Missing sounds
Solution: Install or reinstall the Dynamic Range addons. Every reported instance of missing sounds thus far has had to do with missing or improper Dynamic Range installs. |
