From there two different approaches were explored, top-down and bottom-up. The first consist in taking a block of atoms and works on it to sculpt the object wanted. The second method start from individual atoms and assemble them to compose the object.

The next big step will be the assemblage of nano-factory which duplicate themselves and can manipulate atoms and molecules to operate a lot of different applications like health, build things, communicate, etc? This variety of tasks is the main feature of nanotechnology, it?s a domain applicable in a bunch of others as healthcare, army, mechanic, etc?

Just imagine a book switching between any text contain in this memory then show you an animation or a video. Imagine an elevator running thought the atmosphere to the geostationary orbit allowing to transport satellite, spaceship out of space with a minimal consummation of energy. Or a painting who transform you wall in a fantastic landscape or in a big screen. All this are applications of nanotechnology, it?s not for now but the future can show us big surprise.

But there is not only positive points, one?s can use this technology to make a army of nanobots which can kill a kind of people or just spy us. Or we can imagine someone releasing a kind of nanobots replicating indefinitely and finally destroying all form of life.

Nanotechnology is not applicable today, the research go on quickly at least in the united states and in Japan because in Europe research are going very slowly. We hope that first really advanced application of nanotechnology will appear in 20 or 30 years.

je crois que je vais mettre plutot DTC a la fin de mes 5 mots, la prof comprendra bien mon points de vue sur son glossaire de merde. au pire je lui met la traduction si elle est aps très degourdie.
