While hacking the registry for a future tip, I destroyed my installation so thoroughly that NT would not boot and setup would not repair it. The NTFS file system was still intacted but the registry was so damaged that setup did not recognize a valid installation. While I could have restored, I would have lost 4 hours work. To fix it, boot to an alternate install of NT and expand the each hive on your ERD (or original %SystemRoot%\Repair folder) to the original %SystemRoot%\System32\Config folder:   expand c:\winnt\Repair\Software._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\Software expand c:\winnt\Repair\Software._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\Software.sav expand c:\winnt\Repair\Default._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\default expand c:\winnt\Repair\Default._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\default.sav expand c:\winnt\Repair\SAM._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\sam expand c:\winnt\Repair\SAM._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\SAM.sav expand c:\winnt\Repair\Security._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\security expand c:\winnt\Repair\Security._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\security.sav expand c:\winnt\Repair\System._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\system expand c:\winnt\Repair\System._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\SYSTEM.ALT expand c:\winnt\Repair\System._ c:\WINNT\system32\config\system.sav   Here is an example of the response from expand c:\winnt\Repair\Software._ C:\WINNT\system32\config\Software   Microsoft (R) File Expansion Utility Version 2.50 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1990-1994. Je viens de trouver ça   2783 » Windows 2000 could not start because %SystemRoot%\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMced is missing or corrupt? If you receive the subject error, your System hive is missing or damaged. If the Recovery Console is installed, start it and jump to step 3.   If the Recovery Console is NOT installed:   1. Start the setup media and press R at Welcome to Setup.   2. Press C to start the Recovery Console.   3. Select the install instance you wish to repair.   4. Enter the administrator password. If this is a domain controller, you must enter the Directory Services Restore Mode Adminstrator password.   5. Type the following commands:      cd system32\config      ren system system.old      ren system.alt systemalt.old 6. Copy the more recent of %SystemRoot%\repair\regback\system or %SystemRoot%\repair\system to the current folder (%SystemRoot%\System32\Config). 7. Type exit to restart.   NOTE: Any services, device drivers, or program registry entries that where installed after the date of this System hive must be reinstalled.   bonne chance ;)

le pbl c que g pas de d7 'urgence.... la rép ne passe pas car il trouve pas l'install de 2k ce con ! Pleaze

Je ne me souviens plus si c'est possible maintenant qu j'y repense...aïe pas taper.... Si non fait une réparation avec le CD et il ne jettera pas   tes fichiers...seulement tes paramètrages BDR et tu devras sans doute réinstaller tes appli. et ce sera mieux si tu a   fait la disquette de réparation d'urgence.

Tu peux essayer de faire un reset des paramètres de sécurité par la console..menu help ?

on s'est mal compris : je peux me logguer g le bon passwd mais le sul rep ou jeux accéder c \winnt, jes autres c access denied

j'y ai pensé, mais le problème c que j'ai des fichiers super importants à récupérer. De plus lorsque j'arrive a avoir la console et que je veux aller ds le rep ou se trouve mes fichiers, il me balance "access denied" !!

Salut, depuis hier soir, qd je boote, j'ai le message suivant :   C0000218 registry file failure, registry can not load hiv files, systemroot/system32/config software or it log or alternate corrupt , absent or not writeable   JE sais plus quoi faire ! Comment on fait pour réparer cette erreur ???
