"First public release of reorganized source. Revisions will be given version numbers 2.xx so as to avoid confusion with Avisynth 1.0 beta xxx"

"Posted By: richardberg Date: 2002-07-03 18:46 Summary:Version 2.xx details, plans, and raison d'être No doubt you're wondering why there's now Yet Another Avisynth Project(tm) open here on SourceForge. Frankly, the immediate motivation was merely technical: starting a clean branch of the source tree using highly restructured code without screwing up things too badly. More details in the 2.0.0 release notes. However, I'm hoping for a lot more than aesthetics here -- our reason for being is to *release great code.*
I don't have any delusions about my "program management" skills, though I'll do the best I can as long as it's my responsibility, and I think I'm obsessive-compulsive enough to keep things "orderly" if nothing else during this uncertain period. I don't know how long maintaining this secondary site will be necessary, but the more I think about it the more reservations I have about recommitting my energies to the old one. Because fact of the matter is, under Edwin's guidance the original goals were stagnating. I hope he continues to contribute, but there's a lot to be said for leading by example. (Making commercial gain the focus of foo.sourceforge.net -- without including a SourceForge banner as the license requires -- doesn't cut it, in case you're wondering.) If nothing else, I pledge to keep the modus operandi around here in sync with the ideals of the developers who have helped bring free A/V software as far as it has.
So whether you're a casual user or hardcore developer, any help you wish to lend is always appreciated...god forbid we actually *use* the integrated support, bug tracking, and feature request forums ^_^"
