Vcore mod for KT3
Not sure if anyone else has done this before, but I have determined the Vcore mod for the KT3 (I have the Ultra ARU). This board has the HIP6302 voltage regulator, which is very similar functionally as the HIP6301. You will find that the HIP6301 is used on the Shuttle AK31 and other popular boards.
Stealing heavily from what others have done for modifying the vcore on the AK31 (here is a good article from overclockers.com on how to do it - AK31 voltage mod ), I searched for the layout for the HIP6302, which was not hard to find (you can find the layout here - HIP6302 data sheet ). You will notice that the HIP6302 has 16 pins, vs the 20 pins that the HIP6301 has.
Once I determined where pin 7 (FB) was located on the HIP6302, I just followed the same instructions given for the AK31 mod by the overclockers.com article, and now I am running at 2.1v for the vcore, which allows me to squeeze another 33 Mhz out of my 1600+. The max voltage is about 2.25, which is when I get a no-boot condition, similar to the HIP6301 modification.
The only slightly difficult part of this was determining where the top of the chip was. If you look closely at the markings on the chip, the top of it is the end where the H for the HIP6302CB marking is at.
As always, if you attempt this, and something blows up, you don't know me
