nathan_g J'ai édité le fichier Xconfig mais, comme il est relativement long, je voudrais savoir plus précisément à quel endroit il doit être modifié cad où je dois indiquer que j'ai une carte graphique VMware.
 
Merci de tous ces renseignements, j'espère qu'ils seront suffisant pour faire marcher startx sur ma machine et enfin utiliser Linux.

ccp6128 y'a 2 moyens au moins : éditer le fichier avec un éditeur de texte en mode console du genre vi, nano, emacs ou ce que tu veux, ou utiliser les outils xf86cfg ou xf86config pour générer un nouveau fichier de configuration adapté à la machine.

Au fait, je suis actuellement sur une autre machine et j'utilise également Linux Mandrake (version 9 je crois). Or, ce répertoire est absent. Est ce normal ? Est-ce qu'il peut porter un autre nom ?
 
Et sinon, sans interface graphique, par quel moyen est-il possible de modifier le fichier dans XFree. Est-ce qu'il est possible, en mode console, de passer l'information que la carte graphique est VMware ?
BMOTheKiller XFree86 4/xorg supporte VMWare de base, donc c'est inutile

Ou se trouve ce fichier XFree et comment le modifier (à condition qu'il ne soit pas VMware) ?
 
Sinon, pourquoi ne procèdes tu pas à cette installation ? Est-ce inutile ?
ccp6128 Je n'installe jamais les vmware tools lorsque je crée des machines virtuelles linux.
 
Pour résoudre ton problème commence par vérifier que ton pilote graphique dans ton fichier XFree86 est bien "VMware".

j'ai un problème d'installation avec VMware. Je cherche en effet à installer Linux Mandrake (version Discovery) comme une machine virtuelle gérée par VMware. Or, si l'installation de Linux s'est apparemment bien déroulée, je ne parviens pas à avoir un affichage graphique et je reste en mode console.
 
N'étant pas parvenu à remédier à ce problème, j'ai cherché à installer les outils supplémentaires de VMware (VMware tools) mais je suis resté bloqué car il m'est demandé l'adresse du répertoire contenant les fichiers sources de Linux (si j'ai bien compris le message), l'adresse donnée par défaut ne contenant aucun fichier.
 
Bref, je suis bloqué ...
 
Quelqu'un aurait-il un conseil, ou encore mieux, déja été confronté au problème ?
