ViewSonic today tipped plans to take embedded video players into the home market.

The company said it is getting ready to build a downsized portable video player which will combine the functionality of a MP3 jukebox, a portable DVD player, and a digital photo album in a single portable device.

Viewsonic will call its launch product the PVP, for portable video player. The company said the player will be hit the market in the fall of this year and will be among the first built around Microsoft's Media2Go platform.

The ViewSonic PVP will feature a 3.5-inch 240X320 color display and a 10GB hard drive that the company said is large enough to store up to seven hours of video content.

ciao
