Edit: et le défaut de la lentille de droite sur la dernière photo. Au mieux une rayure, au pire ça a forcé au montage.

T'énerve pas comme ça, repense à la sortie de Morans sur Bash hier. J'ai la Banane sans interruption depuis ce moment et le blog des bracelets à boules.

La boite en metal est elle en acier 904L???

Omega’s order card shows that the watch was very highly specified, not only was it waterproof “ETANCHE”, but the movement was finished in rose gold, fitted with the new Para-Choc shock protection on the balance and the movements were specially regulated, meaning that the timing was adjusted by the firm’s [I]regleurs[/I], who were the most highly trained (and paid) watchmakers there. It was antimagnetic by virtue of a Faraday cage made from soft iron NUMETAL, the movement ring is made from this material, whilst there is a removable disc on the movement and the dial was also made from the same material thereby protecting the movement from all sides.
 
The dial was gloss black with cream full Arabic numerals and large luminous bars at the quarter hour divisions and dots for the remainder, whilst the 12 mark has 2 dots and a bar. There was a large British Government property mark of an arrow just above the 6 and the words ‘Swiss Made’ in tiny print at the very bottom of the dial.
 
The case was quite large for the period, measuring 36.5mm diameter, 48mm lug to lug and standing a substantial 14mm from the wrist it is a perfectly usable size today. Like all British Military watches, it has fixed steel strap bars designed to take a fabric strap measuring the unusual 17.5mm size.
That is the background to the following watches for sale; here is the first which is a classic Thin Arrow complete with original dial, and the retainer ring for the antimagnetic movement cover (generally known as the ‘Dohickey’); the steel winding crown has been replaced by a plated one of the same dimensions but the plating is now wearing off. The dial has a small oil mark (at least that is what I think it is) down by the 6. The most unusual aspect of the watch is that it is NOT a 1953 issue, rather it is the 38th watch issued in 1958 and, interestingly, the movement number is much later than the 1953 watches, being a 14 million number, rather than a 12 million. Also the inner case back is stamped 2777 not the normal 2777-1 and also unusually bears the stamp of the case maker Hugenin Freres (HF).

The next one is identical in apparences other than the fact that someone has tried to remove the thin arrow by drawing over it with a felt tip pen; however they have done such a good job that it is impossible to see where this was done without a loupe, I have tried to photograph the area but it is very difficult. This is a classic thin arrow with a 1953 issue date and a 12 million movement serial number.

The next one is probably the most commonly seen, the ‘Fat Arrow’ ; in the 1960s the British Government forbad the use of radium on watches & so most of the issued military watches were withdrawn from service, their dials removed and sent off for reprinting using tritium as the luminous exciter. The quality of these reprints is nowhere near as good as the original Swiss dials, somewhere between artisanal and amateur is the best description. The original government arrow was now MUCH thicker and a circled T under the logo signified the presence of tritium on the dial.
The movement is missing the doohickey but some enterprising owner has stuck an adhesive dot on top of the antimagnetic cover to prevent it rattling against the case back. It also has a replacement winder.

After a classic Fat Arrow; here is another strange variation on the Thin Arrow; not only has the dial on this one gone a brown ‘tropical’ colour but the back has the strangest markings I have ever seen on one of these watches; it has the large broad arrow on the back, but it looks engraved rather than the factory stamped ones and only the specification 6B 542 which looks as though it has been done by hand; also, like the 58 one above, it has a case back marked 2777 with the HF logo; it’s a mystery to me. Meanwhile the movement number is a 12.0 million number, one of the lowest I have seen. Replacement winder and no doohickey.

The last one is another strange one, it is a repainted dial, but not the conventional Fat Arrow one; it is assumed that it is an earlier Ministry of Defence one, as it has neither the broad arrow nor the circled T. There has been some discussion of this style dial on MWR and it is now accepted as uncommon but still correct for the model. Furthermore the back is most certainly a replacement, as it still has crisp edges and all the case back markings are engraved, it also has the 2777 model number & HF logo but in conjunction with the normal Omega logo, not the smaller one seen in the other cases. The winder is the correct style but has the Omega logo, there is no doohickey and the crystal has some stress crazing. The movement is a 12.8 million number.
