Do CD-Rs reliably store data and are they compatible with all CD-writing and -reading tools?
Both questions have to be answered with yes. The general specifications, which were agreed upon by all CD-R- and CD-recorder manufacturers, are stipulated in the Orange Book, Part II. This secures the compatibility of the CD-Rs with all CD-Writing and -reading tools. The reliability of CD-Rs is proven in several different examinations. The product life expectancy can be up to 50 years if the media is treated correctly.
How long do the unrecorded CD-R mediums last? How long can they be stored before they are recorded at the first time?
The CD producers estimate a lifetime for the unrecorded CD-Rs of approximately 10 years.
How long do CD-R's retain information reliably?
The estimated lifetime of memory media is very difficult to judge, because this is a very complex and statistically based process. The ANSI Committee IT-9 at present develops uniform guidelines for the investigation of the product lifetime for CD-Recordables. The CD medium manufacturers have made extensive studies based on tests, which were defined by the industry, and mathematical techniques. The results of these tests are impressive, because a lifetime of 70 to 200 years was determined. Important factors in the lifetime of such media are the quality of their storage and handling.
Je les achetes en Espagne (le pq du prix...), comme j'y vais + ou - regulierement... la derniere fois j'en ais pris 500, et je lui ais pose la question - si je pourrais avoir un prix plus interessant dans le cas d'une quantite superieure... il ma dit que se serait suivant la quantite...
Si ceux qui sont interesses pourraient me dire, a quelque chose pret, la quantite qu'ils veulent, je pourrais commencer les negociations... ;)
