Je viens de passer sous GNU/Linux (Mandrake) un netpc Biostar IDEQ 200v équippé d'un chipset intégré VIA KM400 comme nombre d'autres PCs ou portables.

Par défaut, le pilote via n'est pas installé mais un pilote vesa peu efficace. Un site très utile pour fournir de quoi régler la difficulté se trouve ici:

Cela vous permettra de compiler un XFree 4.4 unichrome sans encombre:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/unichrome/
Ce dernier fonctionne effectivement. Et même si ce n'est pas un foudre de guerre, cela rend bien service en bureautique pour afficher tranquillement les hautes résolutions aux féquences choisies (alors qu'en vesa on dépasse péniblement 75 Hz).

Il vous faudra après avoir installé XFree 4.4 unichrome, modifier votre fichier /etc/X11/XF86Config-4

Edit:
Du nouveau depuis quelque temps déjà: Unichrome est pris en charge par Xorg. Jusqu'a présent j'avais mis-à-jour xorg pour prendre en charge les derniers unichrome. Cette fois, ils sont disponibles aussi, avec la toute dernière version chez thac:

Bonjour, voila j'ai ce PC:

sinon voici le nom de ma carte graphique qui apparait dans le gestionnaire de périphériqe:
VIA/S3G KM400/KN400
Je voudrais avoir un affichage correct ("1024X768, 85 Hz, 32Bits" (comme sous XP) ou au moins 24 Bits sinon)
Or je n'y parviens pas du tout je reste toujours en 60Hz bien que Linux me dise que je suis en 75 Hz...de plus je n'ai que du 16bits, apparemment vous vous y connaissez pas mal, ce qui n'est pas mon cas c'est mon 1er linux LOL.
Si vous pouviez résoudre donc mon problème ce serait hyper sympa de vôtre part, et ainsi je n'abandonnerai pas Linux car là l'image est trop mauvaise autrement ça fait mal aux yeux avec le 60Hz, or mon moniteur est optimisé pour travailler en 85Hz a 1024X768 et en 32 Bits (c'est un 17", le hp v72 de hewlett packard)
