X-Plane 8.02 is in the works now.
I plan release for on or about November 24 so you can download then and
play on turkey day after lunch.

Our TOP prios are obvious:

->faster load time
->faster frame-rate
->better looking terrain and objects

Ben is working on the first 2.
Sergio is workin on the last one.

What am I doing?
The usual... whatever people ask for.
Here is what is done so far, with more to come of course:

See the rendering options screen: there is an option to mostly flatten
the airports.
Flatten them out a good bit if you see fit... you still get SOME curves
in the runway, but not too much.

GPS refinement:
GPS can work independently until you actually enter a plan into the
FMS... then the FMS takes over the GPS.

Engine nacelle left/right texture s/t labels in Plane-Maker are correct.

Custom limits for round AOA! Jason Chandler needs it for one of his
next planes... a LearJet!
Well known to be among the most overpowered and challenging civilian
planes to fly, this one should be interesting!

Hydraulic quantity and pressure gages as well, as requested.

3-D cockpits functionsl no matter what resolution you are running the
sim in.

Ctrl-o goes SMOOTHLY from 2-d to 3-d cockpit. It was a little
distracting before.

Reverse-thrust-engaged annunciators. kind of nice. some airline pilot
wanted them.
New joystick button option: AUTOPILOT: CWS (for control-wheel
steering)Hit this and...
NOTHING HAPPENS! (except the DISCONNECT of any pitch and heading
autopilot functions)
but then, RELEASE the button, and the pitch and heading at the moment
you released the button are held...
be sure your plane has a PITCH SYNC and HEADING HOLD button to see the
annunciators and know what is going on,
and so you can hit them to turn this mode OFF!

More accuracy with prop-strikes... the elevation of the gorrund or
pavement right under the prop is considered,
not just the general ground altitude in the "vicinity" of the plane.

Better ITT & EGT during trubine engine starts...
the temperature is hooked to the start fuel intro time as defined in
Plane-Maker engine screen.

Change the size of the EFIS and HUD ALTITUDE and AIRSPEED layer-3
images to define the size of the instruments in the panel,
if desired. You can also change their size the easy way (instrument
size ration in Plane-Maker), but that method results in
blurriness, and is not optimal.

il me semblait que la démo était passé à 20minutes... c'était p-ê uniquement pour la beta

non, c'était passé à 20 min pour la 8.00 béta et revenu à 6 dès la 8.01 et suivantes...

par contre, sur la liste Xplane-fr, ils parlent des FPS et c'est pas bon du tout . avec la V8/scenery8 :

oui mais ho... si il fait partie des zozos qui rouspètent tout le temps il faut lui demander la résolution et le mode AA... car des gars qui rouspètent pour du ramage en 1600x1200 FSAA à fond ça se croise tous les jours.

cela étant, Meyer a expliqué pourquoi les Mac étaient moins rapides que les PC dans le cas v8/s8... c'est dû au nouveau moteur des scénaries qui joue sur des listes d'affichage et le Mac est super lent dans ces listes.

mais il y travaille...

paraît que ça fonctionne bien sur les machines "normales"... si on n'exagère pas sur les détails graphiques...

rien ne montre les fps de cette image... mais c'est bô :sweat:

Lower load times, lower RAM requirements, and higher frame-rates.

Compared to 8.01, load times are DOWN by about 10%
Compared to 8.01, frame-rate is UP by about 75%! (not a typo! this is
on a G-5)
Compared to 8.01, RAM use is DOWN by about 10%

Demo chargée par ftp (plus rapide). Il n'y a que ça qui est plus rapide!!! confiant dans mon matériel (XP2800+ @ 2311Mhz + 1Go RAM+9600XT), je me la nce avec les sceneries version 8, reglages sur tons of road et tons of object de san bernardino. Jusque là pas de soucis... mais j'approche de Los Angeles,et là, c'est le drame: 1 fpm (frame par minute), l'impression que le simu est bloqué, mais non, il galère tout simplement. Par contre c'est vrai que c'est beau...

perso, je retire l'autogen car il ne me sert pas... tu devrais gagner un max.

par contre, c'est vrai que c'est moins "peuplé" évidemment

c'est dans la partie détails où l'on peut spécifier ce que l'on veut en rayon d'autogen, de densité, si l'on veut les routes, les mongolfières, ...

quels reglages mettre, sachant que dès que je m'approche de LA avec le reglage sceneries v8, je passe en mode slide show

bon je me réponds à moi même. J'ai vu un message sur XP-FC.org, et en fait, le pb de la simu qui rame dans certaines scènes est dû à la version 8.02, je viens de réinstaller la 8.01 et aucune pb. Mais j'ai quand même l'impression que les scènes de la 01 sont moins abouties que la 02. Je sens que ça promet des versions tous les 3 jours comme à une époque pour les V7...

si il y a des nuwages, essaie en réduisant leur texture: .60 / .60 sera suffisant dans un premier temps.

et retire le hi-res from orbit...

comme ça ça devrait aller. cela étant, sur le forum www.x-plane.org , un user se plaint d'un slideshow sur une machine de parvenu... faudrait que je retombe dessus.

en gros, les versions 8 vont être des betas jusqu'en janvier/fevrier, puis il va y avoir des RC pour une vrai finale en juin... Il a une façon de travailler assez particulière quand même. Je voudrais pas être le pekin moyen qui passe à XPlane et qui charge la 8.02 pour mettre à jour sa version DVD, il risque de pas être décu du voyage...

en v8/s7 et 8.02, j'ai 95 fps en volant vers LA avec comme réglages :

texture resolution:very high
world detail: high
number of object:tons
number of roads:tons

et coché les options mostly flatten/draw hi-res/oil rigs/car,balloons/forest fire

ce qui est excellent!!!

ça change rien, on a l'impression que c'est pas le visuel qui ralentit, mais que même si tu enlèves l'option, il calcule quand même et n'affiche pas...je vais retester pour être sur... à dans 5 minutes!
