bein chais pas, j'attends l'album pour en parler
de toute façon c'est clair que je l'achèterai, maintenant, c'est mon style de musique, reste à savoir combien de fois je vais écouter l'album  

Je trouve que la pochette rappelle un peu trop les attentats du WTC Avec les gens qui tombent C'est d'assez mauvais goût
 
N'empêche qu'ils n'ont sans doute pas complètement tort, ceux qui disent que Bellamy est parti dans son délire en oubliant Chris et Dom

Pour montrer que je sais de quoi je parle quand je cause de Muse, j'ai absolument tous leurs albums, j'ai même Hullabaloo en cd et en dvd
 
Mais bon chais pas, j'ai l'impression qu'ils s'éloignent de ce que Showbiz laissait présager de meilleur

De toute façon je fais pas trop confiance aux resteurs sound of violence, ils avaient dénigré aussi le dernier Placebo et bien d'autres encore... Biens des tests (professionnels, ceux-là !) trouvent le nouvel album excellent.

There's still around two months to go before Muse release their third studio album, (Sing For) Absolution, but last night at London's Planetarium, we were given a sneak preview of what fans can expect to hear from what people (well, us, actually) are already calling the best album of the millenium! And boy, are they in for a flamin' treat!
 
But before we tell you what to look out for, let's just clarify a few things. First up, forget about all those rumours that the new album is gonna be a lot more upbeat than their previous records, 'cos it's not. It's still just as noisy and melancholy sounding as ever and better for it. Also, if you thought Stockholm Syndrome was indicative of what else is on the album, think again, 'cos this is the red-herring of the album, the tune that bridges the gap between this and Origin Of Symmetry.
 
Now we don't wanna give too much away (well, it spoils the surprise, doesn't it?) but let's just say that Matt, Dom and Chris have come up trumps with this record.  
 
The stand out track is the irresistible Endlessly which, bizarrely, starts-off sounding a bit like an M-People track (eek!) but, thankfully, evolves into a heart-breaking tune about never letting someone down! Aaah, see the boys do have a soft side! In fact, the tune has such a great disco-style bassline that it literally screams out for a poppy dance remix (Come on knob-twiddlers, get in touch with Warners NOW) It has to be a single. It is soooooooo good.
 
Elsewhere on the album, there are couple of cool slowies (obviously laced with a barbed quality that'll go down a treat with fans!) and loads of characteristically dramatic anthems (one of which has a brilliant middle section where Matt goes mental on the piano, and recalls memories of the 2001 Slovenian Eurovision entry Energy by Nusa Direnda which has a similar ebony/ivory mash-down!)
 
Amazingly, there's just the one really disappointing track (The Small Print) which rather sadly sacrifices melody for noise and really should have been kept on hold for a future B-side.
 
All in all, (Sing For) Absolution is a triumph. The boys have employed more sounds than ever before, lots of squelchy dance sounds, loads of manic piano crashes and the welcome appearance of some strings. The tone is moody, the lyrics are occasionally warm-hearted and soft but the sound is still as loud and as cinematic as can be! And, hey, that's all you can really ask for, isn't it?
 
(Sing For) Absolution is released in September and will be accompanied by the single, Time Is Running Out.

Muse unveil new album to the industry and competition winners at the Planetarium... oooh woooooh yeah yeh yeah ye-ye-ah...  
Last night, beneath the stars, Drowned in Sound heard the third studio album from the most important band since Nirvana, at an exclusive album playback of '(Sing for) Absolution'. It took place at the Planetarium, Baker St, London. And guess what? It was ruddy marvellous.  
 
Here's a blow by blow, of what I can remember...  
 
 
1. Intro
2. Apocalypse Please: What an opening! Rumbles in and then throws a few pianos around for good measure. A call for the end of the world or at least for folks to wake up before it's all over. Song stops and there's a massive applause.
3. Time Is Running Out: The new single (promos of which were given out on the door) is pretty representative of what was to follow. Huuuge operatic spacescapes, buzzing electronics, dusty basement drums, odd samples and Matt's vocals sounding more distinctive and resounding than ever before. Did I mention they're rocking the System of a Down sonics a wee bit too?
4. Sing For Absolution: There's something oddly pop going on with this one. Not quite the epiphany of 'Showbiz' on first listen, but time will tell.
5. Stockholm syndrome: The mp3 single. If you've not heard it, get it for £1/£1.50 here.
6. Falling Away With You: A typically Muse ballad and a strange transition from the rock blasts that came before it. It's naked sounding, all peaches and pinks. A Sunday morning fumbling anthem?
7. Interlude
8. Hysteria: A mammoth. Some filthy guitars. Queen and Pink Floyd spring to mind.
9. Blackout: Big evil orchestral number.
10. Butterflies and Hurricanes: This is the song that'll make you cry. About 4 minutes in it breaks down into Matt thumping the piano keys making this exactly what I was waiting for. Lyrically it's got a Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club) vibe of 'what do you really wanna do with your life?'. This song finishes to a huge response from the 400 or so gathered.  
11. Endlessly: Bit of a breather and a bit progier than the rest with lots more electronics than elsewhere, if I remember rightly.
12. Thoughts of a Dying Atheist: (have a feeling that might be a hoax title). Stopped taking mental notes about now.
13. TSP (The Small Print): They've played this one live a few times on recent tours. It's a rock monster.  
14. Rule By Secrecy: A chilling, thumping ending with special projections on the ceiling of ghosts and ghouls. The audience is transported via tunnels and loops down into the pits of the grave, where we were flung through the jaws of a skull and out the other end, breathless and silent until the lights came up and it was time to applaud.  
And that was that. People cheering. Nearly everyone I spoke to afterwards loved it. A definite step forwards and the sound of the band really and truly coming into their own, pulling together things they love. Perhaps still lingering elements of asking the world to inspire them that bit more and maybe a few confusingly complex (on first lissen) bits and bobs but they have totally set themselves head and shoulders above the pack with an album that?s going to blow people away, especially live.

4 years ago Muse were almost unheard of, but now 3 albums into their career they are seeing their 3rd album, the follow up to 01's Origin of Symmetry launched at this, the plush London's Planetarium. The large press area amongst the Waxworks of Madame Tussauds with complementary drinks and food all hoping to sway the opinions of the vast amount of press a band of Muse's stature attracts acts as the perfect venue for the nights proceedings, with the band out in full force mingling with the guests. Muse are on the brink of a 9 date arena tour of the UK (their biggest tour to date) and are now signed to major label - Warner Music, meaning it could now be make or break time, a poor follow up to Origin of Symmetry could spell disaster for them.
 
Inside the 400-capacity dome of the Planetarium itself and after a brief announcement and introduction to the album the playback started. With the Planetarium's visual display going on overhead (for those of you who haven't been to the Planetarium before it is a large dome shaped cinema / theatre where images of the stars are projected onto the ceiling) the sound of marching signified the opening track of the album, "Apocalypse Now". You can tell from the first note that Absolution is trying to be more than just a follow up to their outstanding previous efforts. It is an album with more purpose, an album that has a strange sense of urgency, as Bellemy sings on the second track in and first single proper "Time Is Running Out", I wont let you bury it / I wont let you smother it / I wont let you murder it / Because our time is running out.  
 
It is mellower than its predecessors, showing the band maturing and expanding in their musical abilities. Opting for more piano filled moments, seen on tracks such as "Falling Away with You" and less of the huge riffery that was seen on Origin and Showbiz. When they do opt for heavier moments however, they don't half go for it; the drumming has evolved to sound huge, like a barrage of drums that, at times sound almost apocalyptic.  
 
At points this album could be deemed a little self-indulgent, with a lengthy classical piano solo midway through "Butterflies and Hurricanes" and the mellower, almost ballad-like "Falling Away with You" which had some of the audience murmuring "cheesy". Overall though this is effective and only time will tell whether we will grow to love or hate these moments.  
 
The album ended with a huge cheer from the crowd within the Dome, whether it was the small number of Muse-mad competition winners who got a chance to attend this showing or whether people were generally very pleased, happy and even amazed at what they heard is yet to be determined. As people left the Dome the muttered conversations ranged from the encouraging to the pessimistic.  
 
Whilst we will have to wait until September to hear the album properly, the impression I gained from this first playback was of a band just starting to realise their sense of purpose, a band no longer worried about making music that will sell but with music that pushes the boundaries and sends out a message.

Non, je voulais juste faire un gros break pour voir si vous étiez vraiment tous à ce point à fond dans le trip "à moi, j'suis plutôt Dark Shines, on y retrouve vachement le côté psycho-urbain de Bellamy".
 
De toutes façon 10 contre 1 que ce qui circule est des fakes.
 
Le CD j'irais l'acheter et je vous recomande de faire de même.

Non mais plutot que de se masturber sur ce le fait qu'ils pensent être de VRAIS fans, ceux qui ne sont pas des moutons et qui comprennent l'esprit du compositeur, ses émotions, que la foule ne peux percevoir... certains feraient mieux se prendre un douche froide et de réécouter le CD, juste pour le plaisir de ce que c'est : de la musique.

lol kyle moi j'ai rien dit, on est sur hfr, meme sur ppc dans ma section je fais pas de pub alors ici encore moins, de toute facon muse c'est sympa deux minutes mais ca me fera jamais autant tripper qu'un mogwai, radiohead, godspeed you black emperor, sigur ros (avis perso)

je veut dire que pantera pour aller chercher l'aspect mélodique il faut kke heures de pratiques quand mme
je reconnais que je me reserve pour un niveau de violence un peu inférieur

c normal l'oreille s'eduqeu c'est une question d'habitude et d'experience  
je pense que tu peut pas encadrer un morceaux de trance un peu violent , pourtant une fois l'oreille préparée c'est un délice
pour te dire , a un moment , venant des smashing pumpkins j'ai eu du mal a pouvoir ecouter un deftones en entier
maintenant ca passe merveilleusement bien

j'ai redécouvert Uno moi    

oui enfin radiohead c pas aventuré sur  le son de morceaux comme plug in baby    
en bref sur le domaine de la voix , du chant , de la qualité de composition je trouve radiohead supérieur
au niveau du jeu de guitare , de l'innovation  , de la violence , je prefere muse    
j'adore les 2

bizarrement, c'est quand même depuis qu'ils ont arrêté de faire du radiohead mixé à du buckley qu'ils vendent bcp moins de disques (origin of simmetry a fait un ultra-bide comparé à showbiz quand même)
 
j'préfère écouter les originaux(rh, jb et les morceaux de classique)
