Selon certains, alors que les talibans avaient gagné du soutien parmi les pakistanais, notamment en raison des attaques de drones américains, cet acte de violence envers Malala pourrait bien retourner très durement l'opinion pakistanaise contre les talibans :

L'adolescente a été transférée dans un hôpital militaire d'Islamabad.
Si son état semble encourageant, les médecins précisent que les prochaines 24/36h vont être déterminantes.

D'après l'article elle ne peut pas encore parler, et s'exprime par écrit, ayant subit une trachéotomie.
Elle a cependant pu se lever pour la première fois depuis 10 jours, mais les médecins restent prudents, car elle souffre d'une infection ( l'article ne dit pas de quelle nature ).
Il est prévu dans les semaine sou les mois qui viennent, selon son état, de lui faire subire une chirurgie réparatrice au niveau de son crâne, pour remplacer la partie endommagée avec sa propre ossature (un morceau de sa hanche ?), ou avec une plaque de titane (T-800 proof :o). Les médecins ont cependant un bon espoir de rétablissement complet.
